Magdalena Church, Laguna

Magdalena was formerly a barrio of Majayjay, Laguna. A petitionfrom the residents of the barrio for the creation of a new townwas presented on September 15, 1819. It was proclaimed a newtown by Governor General Don Mariano Fernández deFolgueras on January 18, 1820, and was originally named"Magdalena de Ambling". The name was derived from its patronsaint Maria Magdalena and the barrio of Ambling where it wasestablished. The first Teniente Alcalde or Capitan (the highestpolitical authority in a town) was Don Mauricio San Mateo. Theyfirst established a makeshift school in 1820, which was the veryfirst requirement for it to be a town. The municipal hall was alsoconstructed. A small chapel was also constructed and it gaveway to the construction of a church in 1829. The church wasmade of stones and bricks and donations were solicited fromthe residents. The construction was finished in 1861. Theconstruction of the concrete town hall and the church conventstarted in 1871, and was finished in 1884.

Binakayan Monument, Cavite

The Battle of Binakayan-Dalahican[note2] (Filipino: Labanan sa BinakayanDalahican, Spanish: Batalla de Binakayan-Dalahican)was a simultaneous battle during the PhilippineRevolution that was fought from November 9–11, 1896that led to a decisive Filipino victory. The twin battletook place at the shores of Binakayan, in the town ofCavite Viejo (also called Cavite el Viejo, now Kawit);Dalahican and Dagatan in Noveleta; and, to minimalextent, in Imus and Bacoor townsin Cavite province, Philippines that lasted for two daysbefore the Spanish army retreated demoralized and indisarray. The result of the battle was the first significantFilipino victory in the country's history.

Mabini Shrine, Batangas

Ang Mabini Shrine ay matatagpuan sa Brgy. Talaga sa Tanauan Batangas.Ang lugar na ito ay itinayo para maipakita ang mga importanteng kaganapansa buhay ni Apolinario Mabini. Si Apolinario Mabini ay bayani ng ating bansa.Tinagurian siyang “Dakilang Lumpo” dahil kahit nagkaroon siya ngmalubhang sakit hindi ito naging hadlang sa kanya upang ipaglaban angkalayaan ng Pilipinas.Si Mabini ay galing sa mahirap na pamilya lamang. Ang kanyang mgamagulang ay sina Inocencio Mabini at Dionisia Maranan. Si Mabini aypangalawa sa walong magkakapatid.Galing man siya sa mahirap napamilya, hindi naging hadlang sa kanya ang pag-aaral. Ang kanyang lolo naisang guro, ang kanyang naging unang guro. Dahil sa taglay niyangkatalinuhan, inilipat siya sa paaralan ni Simplicio Avelino. Si Mabini aynagtrabaho bilang utusan upang maipagpatuloy lamang ang kanyang pagaaral.Noong 1881, nakakuha ng scholarship si Mabini sa Colegio de San Juan deLetran kaya siya ay lumipat ng Maynila. Kahit kulang sa pera, natapos niyaang kursong Bachelors in Arts and Professor of Latin na may mataas nakarangalan. Ipinagpatuloy niya ang kanyang pag-aaral sa Unibersidad ngSanto Tomas kung saan nakapagtapos siya ng abogasya. Naipasa niya angbar exam noong 1895.

Morong Church, Rizal

St. Jerome Church stands high up in the town of Morong. Itwas built in 1615 by Chinese craftsmen as evidenced by theChinese-style lions at the entrance to the steep driveway. Ittook three years to construct the church which was funded bythe people of Morong. The stone and mortar church has stepsleading up to the front. The cross on the tower is illuminated atnight and can be seen clearly from the countryside. It has atower in front with a huge statue of St. Michael the Archangel.The three-storey façade, which was built in 1850-1853 tosupport a new bell tower, is one of the most splendid examplesof baroque architecture in the Philippines. It is in graduatedlevels, surmounted by a four-storey octagonal bell tower ofEuropean influence, with paired columns at the four exteriorcorners. The ornamentation consists of a long simple nave. The14 Stations of the Cross are beautifully done. The restoration ofthe ceiling has been done and old beams are now visible.
