Overview of Clinical Inquiry Education at Children’s Hospital ColoradoThe Division of Nursing and Patient Care Services at Children's Hospital Colorado is dedicated toadvancing pediatric healthcare and improving child health through Clinical Inquiry, which includesEvidence-Based Practice, Program Evaluation, Quality Improvement and Research.Children’s Colorado nurses and multi-disciplinary team members and Anschutz Medical Campuscolleagues are welcome to participate in a variety of educational programs. Nursing Grand Rounds isopen to community colleagues.LocationAll educational programs take place at Children’s Hospital Colorado, Anschutz Medical Campus. Welcome to Children’s Hospital Colorado! At Children’s Colorado, pediatric nurses and their colleaguesdemonstrate an unwavering commitment to the children and families they serve. Through theirdedicated involvement in the clinical inquiry process, healthcare teams continue to improve the careand experience of care in our hospital and in the community.As the Nurse Scientist Team from Children’s Colorado and University of Colorado College of Nursing, westrive to support nurses and care providers by fostering a culture of clinical inquiry. In a culture ofclinical inquiry, asking high-level questions in a collaborative way has great potential to improvepatient care. 2018 Journal Club (in-person)Overview, Target Audience and Learner OutcomeJournal Club provides Children’s Hospital Colorado employees and Anschutz Medical Campus colleaguesan opportunity to critically review different types of studies/projects at each session. You will beemailed the journal article ahead of the session so you come prepared to learn/review your criticalappraisal skills.The learner outcome for participants is to apply critical appraisal skills when reviewing the journalarticle based on an EBP, program evaluation, QI project or a research study.Continuing Education CreditRegistration, article review, attendance, sign-in, contribution to the critical appraisal form andsubmission of the evaluation, including a written response to questions related to any change inpractice that you may make as a result of learning that took place at this activity, are required forsuccessful completion and receipt of the certificate of attendance. 2018 Journal Club (online)Overview, Target Audience and Learner OutcomeOnline Journal Club provides Children’s Hospital Colorado employees an opportunity to critically reviewdifferent types of studies/projects online and can participate in hospital-wide journal clubs ordepartment-specific journal clubs. Dates and times will be made available throughout the year. Thesewill be posted on the Journal Club website under Upcoming Journal Club Meetings.The learner outcome for participants is to apply critical appraisal skills when reviewing the journalarticle based on an EBP, program evaluation project, QI or a research study.To access online Journal Club information, please follow these directions: Go to mychildrenscolorado.org and select Resources Evidence Based Practice Journal Club @CHCO on the left hand side. 2018 WorkshopsOverview, Target Audience and Learner OutcomeThe purpose of each Clinical Inquiry Workshop is to provide knowledge and skills focused on clinicalinquiry principles, processes and philosophies. A foundational overview and potential methodologies,analysis options and dissemination possibilities will be explored at each workshop. Each workshop willbe facilitated by experts focused on EBP, program evaluation, QI or research.
