RevelationsThe fortnightly newsletter for Pre-K to Year 12 families of St Paul’sIssue No. 88 7th April, 2022From the PrincipalWe have successfully made it to the end of what hasseemed like a very long term. The term commenced with mandatory masks for studentsand staff, cohorting arrangements, surveillance rapid antigentesting, modified activities and parents not able to attend theschool site during school hours. As the term has progressed,we have seen a gradual easing of these restrictions and it hasbeen wonderful to welcome parents back to the school and torecommence most of all regular events and activities. It will be lovely to have our whole school Easter Chapel onthe last day of term and also to have an ANZAC assemblyin the first week of next term. Neither of these events havebeen held over the last two years. We are so pleased that allco-curricular activities have now commenced and our campingprogram and outdoor education program is once again in fullswing. It is terrific that Friends of St Paul’s have recommencedmeeting and are planning to hold Cinema Under the Starsearly next term- their first community activity in two years.Year 11 are currently rehearsing for the upcoming DebutanteBall which also has not been held for the last two years.circumstances. As we approach Easter, I do hope you might beable to enjoy some down time with family and friends. Easter,of course, is a special time to reflect on the incredible sacrificethat Jesus has made for us by his death on the cross and thenhis resurrection three days later."On the first day of the week, very early in themorning, the women took the spices they hadprepared and went to the tomb. They found thestone rolled away from the tomb, but when theyentered, they did not find the body of the LordJesus. While they were wondering about this, suddenly two men in clothes that gleamed likelightening stood beside them. In their frightthe women bowed down with their faces to theground, but the men said to them. “Why do youlook for the living among the dead? He is nothere; he has risen!”"Luke 24: 1-6As we plan forward, I am sure you will be pleased to hear thatwe have scheduled Grandparents Day for early Term 3. Forthose of you who have joined our community in the last twoyears this is a very special day in our school calendar as wewelcome grandparents of students from Pre-Kindergarten toYear 12 to school. Even though COVID is still with us we aregrateful that so many regular events and activities have beenable to occur. Let’s hope and pray that this continues throughto the end of the year and we can conclude the year with ourChristmas celebration, graduations, formals, Valedictory Dinnerand presentation assemblies.I would like to take this opportunity as we conclude a verycomplex term to thank you once again for your ongoingsupport of our school especially in the midst of ever-changingIan WakePrincipalRevelations - St Paul’s Fortnightly Newsletter. From the Headof Junior SchoolStrong TogetherDespite the challenges that we have all faced thisterm, I am heartened by the way that students, staffand parents have all worked together to ensure thateveryone has been safe.It has been a term where there has been flooding, as well asmanaging the complications of Covid-19 at the same time.Despite this, we were still able to have some incursions andexcursions and even our swimming carnival. Things didn’talways go to plan but I couldn’t help noticing the happiness ofthe Junior School students during each day. Our students havealways been and always will be our focus. I must acknowledgethe continued hard work of our staff and the enduring supportand encouragement of our families.I do pray that as we commence our holidays, that everyone willget a well-deserved break. I would also encourage families toreflect on the message of Easter. A story of amazing sacrificeand the offer of hope.May God bless you all.Ian BrookerHead of Junior SchoolRevelations - St Paul’s Fortnightly Newsletter. Issue No. 88 2

From the Drama AcademyA message fromMrs GrimshawIt has been amazing to have all of our drama students back to face-to-faceclasses this term. Thank you for the amazing efforts made by all of ourtalented students and tutors, I cannot wait to see you all again next term.Fun and easy drama games to keep your children entertained over the holidays!Traffic LightsTraffic Lights is a simple game that captures thefocus of children in an instant. Simply assign a rule toa colour and once you say a colour, the children mustimmediately perform the movement associated withthat colour. I usually like to start with three coloursand slowly add more and increase the speed ofannouncements as the children ‘level up’.For example:Green: WalkRed: FreezeYellow: Slow motionBlue: Stand on one legPink: Walk backwardsThis is a favourite with my Junior School students, and it is not only a fun way to burn off some energy, but also a great way to practise listening andfocussing skills.Revelations - St Paul’s Fortnightly Newsletter. Issue No. 88 Tongue Twister ChallengeTongue twisters are a fun, silly activity that alwaysmake the students giggle. The Tongue TwisterChallenge is something you can play with anynumber of people, either one-on-one or in a largegroup. The task is simple. Repeat the phrase as manytimes as you can without stumbling over any words, and whoever can make it through the most amountof times without mistakes wins. Some examples of Tongue Twisters are: Purple Peanut Butter Eight Icky Icicles The Big Beautiful Balloon Burst Flora’s Freshly Fried Fish Big Black Bats Three Free ThrowsI also find that children love to make up their owntongue twisters too, by combining a group of wordstogether that all begin with the same letter andforming a funny phrase. As silly as this game feels,it is also an awesome way for kids to develop theirunderstanding of articulation and alliteration.7
