001OverviewIntroductionThis operating guide describes how to use the LighthouseHANDHELD 3016 and 5016 Airborne Particle Counters. The HANDHELD 3016 has up to six particle-size channels starting at0.3 microns with a flow of 0.1 CFM and a touch screen interface. TheHANDHELD 5016 has up to six channels starting at 0.5 microns. It isotherwise identical to the 3016 model. A microprocessor controls allinstrument functions. Count data is displayed as cumulative ordifferential count. The model number signifies the minimum particle size measured by theinstrument. The number "3016" indicates a 0.3 Pm minimum channelsize at 0.1 CFM with up to 6 channels. The number "5016" representsa 0.5µm minimum channel size at 0.1 CFM with up to six channels. The instrument uses a laser-diode light source and collection optics forparticle detection. Particles scatter light from the laser diode. Thecollection optics collect and focus the light onto a photo diode thatconverts the bursts of light into electrical pulses. The pulse height is ameasure of particle size. Pulses are counted and their amplitude ismeasured for particle sizing. Results are displayed as particle counts inthe specified size channel.DescriptionErgonomically designed and lightweight, the Lighthouse HANDHELD3016 and 5016 particle counters are the newest and most advancedhandheld particle counters on the market. The HANDHELD 3016/5016 displays cumulative or differentialparticle count data as well as Temperature/Relative Humidity data onits easy to read 3.8" (9.25cm) touch screen. A rechargeable batterymaximizes the HANDHELD’s uptime. Data is easily downloadedusing the LMS XChange software. The HANDHELD allows you to: 248083219-1 Rev 2Set the Sample Time1-1
