Nova Southeastern UniversityNova Southeastern University is a not-for-profit, fully accredited, coeducational Universityclassified by Carnegie as both a “high research” and “community engaged” University. It wasfounded in 1964 as Nova University. NSU’s main campus is located on the 314-acre maincampus in Ft. Lauderdale-Davie. It has a presence throughout Florida, the U.S. and in ninecountries. The specialist and doctoral programs in school psychology and the master’s degree program inschool counseling, offered through the College of Psychology, are approved by the FloridaDepartment of Education. In addition, the specialist program in school psychology holds thedesignation of National Recognition (approval) by the National Association of SchoolPsychologists (NASP).The College of Psychology offers two programs, (1) the M.S. in School Counseling and (2) thePsy.S. in School Psychology, for practitioners in P-12 schools that are accredited by the NationalCouncil for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE). The accreditation for these programsis awarded to the University through the Fischler School of Education as follows: The FischlerSchool of Education at Nova Southeastern University is accredited by the National Council forAccreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE) (www.ncate.org). This accreditation covers initialteacher preparation programs and advanced educator preparation programs at all Universitylocations and online. However, the accreditation does not include individual education coursesthat the institution offers to P-12 educators for professional development, relicensure, or otherpurposes.Nova Southeastern University’s College of Psychology is approved by the AmericanPsychological Association to sponsor continuing education for psychologists. Nova SoutheasternUniversity’s College of Psychology maintains responsibility for this program and its content.Nova Southeastern University’s College of Psychology is approved to offer continuing educationby the State of Florida Board of Clinical Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, and MentalHeath Counseling. NovaSoutheastern University’s College of Psychology is an NBCC-Approved Continuing EducationProvider (ACEPTM) and may offer NBCC-approved clock hours for events that meet NBCCrequirements. The ACEP solely is responsible for all aspects of the program.
