This popular and economicaldesign uses TS 5" x 5" columns on 10" x 10" base plates formaximum rigidity and strength.n Primary framing members mount within nesting channelsdirectly on top of columns. The nesting channels are factorywelded to the columns for a secure connection. Theseconnections create rigid joints, requiring only self-tappingscrews to hold the framing member to the nesting channel.n “U” shaped hangers, factory-welded to the stringer beams, resultin extremely strong connection points.n “C”-shaped framing members provide a tight fit and present auniform, clean appearance.The design and manufacture of the Standard Bearing mezzaninesystem adhere to applicable building codes and OSHA safetyrequirements.Bolted Bearing Design. The Bolted Bearing Design providesall the benefits of the Standard Bearing design with the addition of1/2" high-strength framing bolts for use in projects where boltedconnections are needed.n The bolted connections provide greater strength and stiffnessfor heavier live loads (standard loads are 125 psf) and/orseismic loads.n Bolted Bearing Designs typically use TS 6" x 6" columns on12" x 12" base plates for maximum rigidity and strength.The design and manufacture of the Bolted Bearing mezzaninesystem adhere to applicable building codes and OSHA safetyrequirements.4

Wider column spacingprovides additional clear floor space while minimizing columninterference with floor operations.n 6" x 6" or larger columns provide maximum strength and rigidity.n HVAC duct work, sprinkler pipe, electric conduit and lightingcan pass through the structural system, eliminating overheadobstructions and increasing the usable clear height.n Erection seats incorporated into the column eliminate the needto suspend the beam in the air while field bolting. Eliminate the need for lower-level sprinklersystems with Steel King’s 1" x 1/8" steel bar grating. The 82%open area permits light penetration and better airflow.n Plywood Floor. Provide a smooth work surface with a roofdeck combined with a plywood floor. The roof deck is 1-1/2"high corrugated B-deck covered with 3/4" tongue-and-grooveplywood. Polyethylene coated plywood, resin floors and fireretardant plywood products are also available.n Resin Board. Coated resin board is a more visually appealingflooring option than standard plywood, while also providingsuperior stain and scratch resistance. Coated resin board mayalso provide static control for electrically sensitive environments.Coated resin boards feature standard tongue-and-grooveinstallation for smooth transitions between panels. Coated resinboards are generally installed over 1.5" high corrugated roofdeck, however thicker resin boards are available which do notrequire roof deck support.n Steel. A 12-gauge diamond-textured steel surface is anexcellent option for surfaces subject to intense cleaning, heavytraffic, or abuse. Commonly used for stair landings, it may alsobe specified for part or all of the remaining floor area.n Other Options. Poured concrete on B-decking, OSB orparticle board on B-decking, plank grating and press-lockgrating are other options for deck surfaces. All specifications, drawings andcalculations are made under the supervision of aregistered professional engineer who is a full-timesupervisory engineer of the mezzanine manufacturer.Mezzanines will be designed to meet the appropriatenational building code (UBC, IBC, BOCA or SBCCI),OSHA or appropriate local building code as specifiedby buyer.
