Pre-Employment Police BasicTraining Course NYS Title 9 (9NYCRR Part 6026) authorizeslocalities the option of participating in thisprogramOption is effective 10 September 2003Police agencies may elect to accept proof ofPhase 1 completion as an alternative to trainingin the traditional police academy

Phase One & Phase Two The Basic Course for Police Officers will beseparated into two partsPhase One will be offered to both PreEmployment civilian students and employedsworn police officersPhase Two is available to sworn police officersonly.

Phase One & Phase Two Phase One is two (2) OCC credit semesters induration without breaksPhase Two is 3 weeks and FTO with agency,(FTO time varies with agencies, min. 160 hrs.)In comparison, a full time traditional dayacademy is 24 – 26 weeks in duration, then FTOwith agency
