Francis TuttleEntrepreneurshipAcademyDESIGNING YOUR FUTURE STARTS HERE

The cornerstone of our new Danforth Campus (Aug. 2021)Entrepreneurship is the theme of the entire campus, built with creativity and innovation in mind.

What are the needs of the future? Career success in the new economy is based on a new, changing set of skills. With the pandemic and economic downturn, companies already changingtheir ways are now trying to turn crisis into opportunity. Identifying thatopportunity requires the same ingenuity that has inspired entrepreneurs forcenturies Just in the last decade, advancing technology has given us: ride-sharing,scooters activated by smart phones, augmented reality, order-in apps And this all happened fast, in a matter of years or sometimes less!

What employers wantBernard Marr, strategic business and technologyadvisor, wrote in Forbes about the top skills thatwill be needed in the future workplace.ALL of these skills can be learned in theEntrepreneurship Academy, in which instructorslead students through a specially designedcurriculum centered around the process ofbuilding a business. Creativity Critical Thinking Active Learning Sound Judgement and Decision Making Interpersonal Communication Leadership

EntrepreneurshipAcademy doesn’tjust preparestudents forcollegeIt helps them unlock their owncreativity and determinationnecessary to propel theircompanies, and the largereconomy, forward into a new, changing world.

Entrepreneurship Curriculum Learning is focused around the central goalof starting your own business Students learn the same way they learn inall other academies: by doing! Instruction supports learning, but studentsgain the most from imagining, creating, testing, failing, and then creating andtesting again College prep courses include AP math andAP sciences“INCubatoredu:Student Stories.”Students whoexperiencedthe curriculumtalk about whatthey do in theclass. TheEntrepreneurship Academy willbe based onthis model oflearning.

Skills gained by studentsCritical ThinkingPublic SpeakingResilienceStudents are encouraged toexplore topics they arepassionate about and search forsolutions to every day problems.Students present their businessidea and model to instructors, fellow students and evenmembers of the community whomay want to invest.Students learn how to fail fast.Failure is actually central to theEntrepreneurship curriculum, sostudents need not worry abouttheir idea not working. Theprocess of identifying the reasonfor failure and working toovercome it is more important.Creative ProblemSolvingStudents are taught to think outsidethe box, using the latesttechnological advancements tosolve problems in an innovative wayTeamworkStudent work in the same team andon the same concept for the wholeyear, building bonds and pushingthrough any obstacles together.

Failure IS an option here Accepting failure, working toidentify a solution and then tryingagain is part of entrepreneurial, creative and learning processes. The only kind of true failure here iswhen you choose to give up as aresult
