Occupational Therapy Assistant Program2022 PROGRAM ACCEPTANCE GUIDELINESApplicant must be accepted for admission to Crowder College.Applicant must have a high school diploma or G.E.D./HiSet certificate.Applicants will be selected for acceptance based on their Cumulative Score.The Initial Cumulative Score is based on the following criteria: Grade Point AverageApplicants will be evaluated based on grades earned in the prerequisite courses and all other generaleducation courses that are required for the OTA Program of Study. A minimum GPA of 2.75 isrequired to be considered for the program. The GPA calculation is only on courses in the SuggestedPlan of Study. You must have completed at least some of the courses on the Suggested Plan of Studyto have a GPA to be considered for admission to the OTA program. To assess your courses, it ishighly recommended that you meet with an academic advisor on the Crowder College campus nearestto you. All completed Suggested Plan of Study Courses must have achieved a letter grade of “C”or better to be considered for admission.In order to determine your GPA we must have transcripts sent to the Crowder College RecordsDepartment from every institution you have ever attended. Transcripts must be sent directly fromany institution in which you have taken courses not just institutions from which you have received adegree.For example:You attended United States Community College and took 3 courses, you transferred fromthere to Missouri Community College and got an Associate’s degree, you then attendedTherapy University and took 9 courses, you transferred from there to University of Griffonsand got a Bachelor’s degree.In this example, that makes a total of 4 institutions. You would need an official transcript sentdirectly from each of those institutions to the Crowder College Records department (417)455-5664. Observation Experience4 hours of observation experience in Occupational Therapy (OT) is required. Academic EssayApplicants must submit a short essay written in professional academic level language. BIO 252 Human Anatomy and Physiology II must be completed before the Fall –Second semester of the OTA Program on the Program Curriculum Plan Associates ofScience Degree. Failure to complete this class with at least a “C” letter grade will notallow you to continue in the OTA program. Math class must be completed before the Fall – Second semester of the OTA Program onthe Suggested Program Curriculum Plan Associates of Science Degree to complete thisclass with at least a “C” letter grade will not allow you to continue in the OTA program. Quantitative Reasoning (Math 125) is not as good for Occupational Therapy asAlgebra (Math 135), or Statistics (Math 130).
