Utica College and Herkimer College, in recognition of a mutual respect for the integrity of parallelacademic programs and in an effort to better serve students intending to pursue the completion of abachelors degree, hereby enter into an agreement of an articulated program.OBJECTIVES:1. To encourage the transfer of qualified students from Herkimer College (HCCC) to Utica College (UC).2. To award academic credit for courses completed at HCCC, that meet the terms of the Associate Degree: Liberal Arts & Sciences: Early Childhood or Childhood Education program for application towardthe requirements for the Early Childhood (Birth-Grade 2) Liberal Arts & Sciences: Childhood Education program for application toward the requirementsfor the Childhood Education program (Birth-Grade 2) at UC. Liberal Arts & Sciences: Childhood Education program for application toward the requirementsfor the Childhood Education program (Grade 1 to Grade 6) at UC.To provide effective and concise guidelines for students seeking to transfer to UC. Students willhave accurate and clear information regarding the transfer of their coursework and credits towardthe Bachelor of Arts degree at UC.TERMS OF THE TRANSFER ARTICULATION AGREEMENT:1. UC guarantees the acceptance of students who completed the Associate in Science: Liberal Arts & Sciences program at HCCC with a cumulative GPA of 2.75 or better to UC.2. UC guarantees the transfer of credit as stipulated in the attached Program of Studies. This agreementassumes the completion of the Associate Degree and completion of the courses listed on the attachedProgram (s) of Studies. UC requires that the last 30 credit hours granted toward the Bachelor degreemust be earned in residence, with matriculated status. Additionally, the Bachelor of Arts degree requires that a minimum of 90 of the 120 credits must be in the liberal arts while the Bachelor of Sciencerequires a minimum of 60 of the 120 credits must be in the liberal arts. Students earning an Early Childhood Education, A.A.S. and pursuing the early childhood educationprogram must major in a psychology-child life. Students earning a Childhood Education A.S. and pursuing the early childhood and/or childhood program must major in a liberal arts field. At Utica College, the following liberal arts majors are available:biology, chemistry, communication arts, economics, government and politics, English, history, international studies, liberal studies, mathematics, philosophy, physics, psychology, psychology-child life, andsociology and anthropology. In addition to the requirements of the major and courses for the childhood program, students must fulfillthe following requirements (some of which may be satisfied by this articulation agreement): one year of college-level study in a language other than English and at least 6 credits each in English, Mathematics, Science and History. Students must complete and appropriately document a minimum of 100 hours of fieldwork in a school setting with at least 50 of those hours in high-needs schools.HCCC transfer Students will be subject to all general education requirements of UC as set forth in the UCcatalogue. Transfer students with a completed Associates Degree will be exempt from Components I & II of UC’sCore Requirements. Students who transfer 30 credits of liberal arts and sciences (with at least 2 courses in each of UC’sthree categories of Component II Core—including one lab science course) will be exempt from Component II Core. Transfer Students who enter UC with Components I & II complete will be required to complete 3 credits of Component III: Integrated Writing.

4. This document is based upon the evaluation of course descriptions presented to UC. Courses listed inthis agreement will transfer to UC provided a grade of “C” or better has been earned. Credit will begranted according to the appended list of equivalent courses or as general elective credit.5. This Agreement shall remain in effect for a period of two years from the date listed below, withthe provision that the terms specified herein will continue to apply to the students admitted fromHCCC’s Associate in Science: Liberal Arts & Sciences: Childhood Education and HCCC’s Associate in Applied Science: Liberal Arts & Sciences: Early Childhood Education within one year ofthe expiration of the agreement. Students admitted to the HCCC’s Associate in Science: LiberalArts & Sciences: Childhood Education program prior to such notification shall be admitted toUC on the basis of this agreement.BENEFITS/ADVANTAGES:1. HCCC transfer students are eligible for scholarship and financial aid in all ways the same as continuingUtica College students.2. Utica College will provide housing in campus residence halls within the guidelines and practicesgoverning availability of housing for continuing students.3. HCCC transfer students are eligible to participate in internships, externships, co-ops, field placementsand study abroad opportunities open to continuing Utica College students.Approved on (date)
