However, Chinese Professional Music TherapistAssociation (CPMTA) only recognize 8 of themaccording to the quality of their teachers. The otheruniversities don’t have any qualified music therapyteachers in place, and their teachers are not trainedin music therapy. The number of university musictherapy program will increase in the future. More andmore hospitals and institutions develop their musictherapy programs and music therapists are becomingwelcomed professionals.Music therapy as a major in university is already recognized bythe Ministry of education. However , music therapy as a healthprofession is not formally recognized by the Ministry of Healthyet, many hospitals and institutions have established their musictherapy programsThe requirement of APMTA to recognize training programs isbased on the availability of qualified teachers who were trainedsystematically and gained their Master or higher level musictherapy degree from recognized universities by APMTA or USA,UK, and Australia.An accreditation system has been launched since 2007. Thecertification is named “Registered Music Therapist”. People whowant to gain certification have to complete the courses ofuniversities or institutions which are CPMTA recognized, andthen complete their internship in hospitals or institutionsrecognized by CPMTA. The internship period cannot be not lessthan 1040 hours and must be full time work. The examinationfor the certification is not required.There is no any specific policy of health care at this time.
