V. Crowder-Moger introducedAdrian O’Campo of GreenJay Sports Medicine, as one of the graduateswho is now a part of the advisory committee.Franchises andSchool PartnershipProgramsV. Crowder-MogerWe continue to develop relationships with massage franchises in thearea, specifically, MassageEnvy and Hand & Stone Massage & Facial Spa.M. Siegert updated us that Hand & Stone Temple has a new locationopening soon in Temple, TX. Hand & Stone Georgetown has been amember of this committee for two years.Hand & Stone Massage & Facial Spa School Partnership ProgramAs a partner, Hand & Stone guarantees an interview with the students. Ifhired, there are many incentives, such as tuition reimbursement andcontinuing education assistance, among other benefits. The students logonto a portal created specifically for this school and schedule aninterview with the franchise location of their choosing. The interviewstake place on campus for the student’s convenience. Hand & Stone’sschool co-marketing agreement supplies the school with marketingmaterials to assist with recruiting efforts at high school career fairs oropen houses. M. Siegert stated the bonuses for graduates will vary fromfranchise owner to franchise owner. M. Siegert gave examples of whatmight be offered as bonuses.2V. Crowder-MogerM. Siegert

H&S hires military spouses and will assist those employees intransferring to another H&S franchise when the military member isPCSed, thereby, continuing their employment; pay for their licensing inthe new state; and through their partnership with massage therapyschools, help the spouse find whatever additional education she mightneed in that state.”V. Crowder-Moger pointed out that K. Holman is the POC for the MSEP. K.Holman is still learning what her role entails. M. Siegert has offered tohelp facilitate anything that K. Holman might need. K. Holman had aquestion regarding the co-marketing agreement. M. Siegert reviewedwhat the co-marketing agreement consists of. She stated marketingmaterials will have both their (H&S) logo and the CTC logo, missionstatement, and any other verbiage CTC would like to include. T.Samarripa asked for M. Siegert to send out directly to herself the contractagreement for the school partnership. T. Samarripa will be the POC forgetting the contract from H&S and walking it through the CTC approvalprocess. M. Siegert will get that information over to T. Samarripa. T.Samarripa asked M. Siegert to include an example of other partnershipsthey have so that T. Samarripa can better describe what we are trying todo with H&S. M. Siegert stated it would be no problem and will get therequested information out right away. K. Holman requested to be kept in M. Siegertthe loop and notified once the agreement is approved.Press Release 2019: “The U.S. Department of Defense's Military SpouseEmployment Partnership (MSEP) announced Hand & Stone Massage andFacial Spa as an employer partner to provide spouses of military veteranswith a rewarding career in massage therapy. The Hand &Stone Recruiting Team will attend the induction ceremony inWashington, DC, that is set to be held this October 2019. Skarpa requested the current status of licensed portability. LicensePortability would help military spouses that PCS out of state. V. CrowderMoger explained that the Department of Defense went to the Council ofState Governments with six career fields that they wanted to look intolicense portability. Massage therapy was one of those 6 fields. They hadtheir first meeting in April/May 2021. At the meeting, the CSGrepresentative stated that license portability will take about two years toimplement but it is definitely going to happen.3V. Crowder-Moger

Four first semester courses are complete. Foursecond semester courses are in progress. Four third semester coursesremain for summer semester.V. Crowder-MogerSubmitted initial application to Commission on Massage TherapyAccreditation (COMTA). COMTA accredits both educational institutionsand programs offering instruction in massage therapy and bodywork; oresthetics and skin care. COMTA’s mission: establishing and maintainingthe quality and integrity of these professions. COMTA accreditationensures that the standards being met reflect the national needs of theprofession. Since 2002, COMTA has been recognized by the U.S.Department of Education as a specialized accrediting agency.Initial Application: AcceptedSelf-Study Review: In-progress; due by Spring Break. Projected site visitfor accreditation will occur in the May/June timeframe. Gave COMTAdifferent dates so they can select what courses they want to observewhen they visit. Waiting for COMTA to make a decision on the dates.T. Samarripa expressed her excitement for getting the Massage TherapyProgram nationally accredited through COMTA. The accreditation cost isthe most of any of the Health Sciences Programs and V. Crowder-Mogerwas able to receive a grant to pay half the cost of the accreditation. T.Samarripa pointed out the Massage Therapy program being offered forcollege credit is rare and to have COMTA accreditation will have ourprogram stand out above the rest.V. Crowder-MogerTwo classrooms in the Department of Health Sciences bldg. 557 arebeing renovated for the Massage Therapy Program. Construction isexpected to begin Summer 2022 w/ projected Fall 2022 completion.V. Crowder-MogerOnce the current cohort graduates 12 Aug 2022, the massage therapyprogram offices, storage rooms, and classroom will move from bldg. 559to bldg. 557. Projected timeframe is Fall 2022.V.
