IntroductionThis training guide will function as a “roadmap” for your training at Bigfork Fire Department (BFD).It provides a list of basic skills and knowledge that you should be proficient at, and gives you aconvenient way to track and file your progress as well as certifications and training hours.Rookie TrainingThe following skills and training should be learned and mastered once. Any Officer or careerfirefighter may approve each line item, and your Captain or Officer must sign each section whencompleted. You should be able to complete all these items within your first 6 months atBFD. Firefighter SkillsThese tasks are to be performed on a regular basis to build and retain proficiency. Each time atask is performed; it must be witnessed and initialed by any non probationary firefighter. Extra ParticipationOur combination fire department requires member participation above and beyond doing regulartraining. Many events such as fund raisers, open house, working committees, and otherprojects/events that we do for the public require members to actively participate in order to besuccessful.
