It brings tens of thousands of visitors to Allegany County and continues togrow. The impact to the local economy is tremendous and puts Allegany County in anational spotlight each May.For the second year in a row, AAEDC was awarded money for its VOLT Fund, a loan programto assist small, minority, women and veteran-owned businesses in Anne Arundel Countyand around the state. The state’s Department of Business and Economic Developmentawarded 2 million to AAEDC and a total of more than 9 million to five other loan fundmanagers around Maryland. Since 2013, VOLT Fund recipients have added 148 jobs to loans/vlt-small-business-loansAAEDC launched the Community Reinvestment Initiative aimed at upgrading oldercommercial districts in northern and western areas of Anne Arundel County. The focus ofthis effort is to improve the quality of life for residents in nearby neighborhoods, reduceblighted areas, increase property values, and grow business. The two main tools used toincentive revitalization efforts are the Community Revitalization Tax Credit and the ArundelCommunity Reinvestment (ACR) Fund. Since 2007, AAEDC has distributed more than 953,177 in ACR loans resulting in over 6 million of new alizationPage 1 of 18

The project is over 6 million sf of office,flex, warehouse, industrial, hotel, retail and residential. 1.5 million Video Lottery Terminal funds that opened up lending to small, minority andwomen - owned businesses. The flexible terms and low interest rates make it accessible togrowing entrepreneurs. The fund is one element of Baltimore County's renewed focus onfostering a vibrant entrepreneurial ecosystem.Dominion plans to launch a 3.8 billion liquefied natural gas (LNG) liquefaction project atthe Dominion Cove Point facility. Dominion proposes to operate Cove Point both to importLNG (as it currently does) and to export LNG over a 20-year period. We were able to provide direct contact with approximately290 Calvert County businesses. The event acknowledges the manycontributions local businesses make to our community and thanks them for locating in CalvertCounty. We will offer special events, seminars and networking activities designed to fosterbusinesses of all kinds. The Ambassador teams personally visit 15 businesses; engage inconversation on how to improve the local business climate and what we can do better as a localgovernment for the business community. To date, we have visited 149 businesses specific toBAW over the past 9 years. This is part of our business retention program and does not includethvisits from our ongoing site visitation program. This event will celebrate its 10 year in 2015.Features restaurants that draw on the region’s bounty to offer unique dining experiences.Whether your favorite fare is local seafood, Italian cuisine or anything in between, RestaurantWeek has something to satisfy any taste. Restaurant Week patrons can enter a drawing forprizes by completing an online feedback form or by filling out response cards at the restaurantsduring their visits. A special section on the Calvert County tourism website atChooseCalvert.com/Restaurant Week features full event details including a list of participatingrestaurants, menus, a mapping feature showing restaurant locations, frequently asked questionsand more. This event supports local business, particularly during the “shoulder season” time ofthe year, when foot traffic is particularly low. This event will enter its third year in 2015.Calvert County farms open to the public at this annual event. Visitors can spend a day in CalvertCounty touring a variety of farms and learn more about Calvert's traditional agriculturalcommunity. The annual Calvert County Farm Festival is coordinated by the Calvert CountyDepartment of Economic Development and the Calvert County Agriculture Commission. TheAgriculture Commission conducts the Farm Festival to educate residents about farming and toprovide the public with an opportunity to interact with the farming community. This eventsupports ag sustainability and agri-tourism, and reaches over 550 citizens annually; event hasbeen in existence since 1998Caroline County has a strong manufacturing base that employs thousands of people. TheCEDC is working with the local school system and Chesapeake College to significantlyimprove engineering technology education for advanced technical positions within thesecompanies.
