The UCL librarians did extensive testing of the search results before recommending the cutover. Annual Report 2011-12As I come to work each day . . . . . I am reminded of a phrase on a poster I saw many years ago “We are living in a world of permanent change.” Theirony of the oxymoron struck me at the time, but the reality of the sentiment resonates in me now.Changes in libraries continue at breakneck speed. Our mission to provide access to information remains the same; howwe do it changes. This year we enhanced our selection workflow so that our librarian selectors can do more electronically, eliminating paperwork. As e-book options improve, we evaluate and opt for e-versions – for example, most of ourreference titles are now ordered in “e”. We expanded our leisure collections to include DVD and audiobook titles – torave reviews! We added a new scanner with state of the art touch interface. We virtualized in-house support applicationsfor statistics, time clock, calendars, and “deep freeze”. We hired an adjunct librarian to work with online and international students in their virtual environments. As a joint-use venture, we continue to adapt systems and access so that all students and faculty from the College andthe University benefit from the vast resources and student-centered services we provide. — JackieArchives. . . lessons in Americanhistory to be learnedfrom what happenedright here in BrowardCounty . . . a greatopportunity todemonstrate to studentsthe value of archives, and that not everythingcan be found online. This story can fit 100-150 words. The subject matter that appearsin newsletters is virtually endless.
