MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENTWhen I have opportunity to speak to prospective students, I often challenge them to not settle for a college experience that, inthe end, only offers a diploma. An investment, like a college education, should result in so much more than a piece ofparchment. It is this aspect, the so much more that makes CCCK so distinctive. Our focus is on much more than just a diploma. Our mission, to provide a Christ-Centered Education for Character, compels us to move beyond the mere pursuit of intellectualassent and skill development. In fact, it is this mission that informs and propels everything we do. It enables us to to reach forsomething higher, something deeper, something more profound – something that can only defined as a metamorphous ofcharacter. In his seminal work, The Divine Conspiracy, Dallas Willard remarks on the state of Higher Education, asserting that manyinstitutions have placed greater emphasis on the role of critical thinking, while ignoring the equal need for critical action. Quitefrankly, I agree. Our roots, forged in the Wesleyan tradition, simply will not allow us to accept mere intellectual assent as aproduct of our work. The pursuit of Christ and His character demands something more. At the very least, it demands a pilgrimage into the very coreof heart, soul, mind and strength – to discover God, His Call, and His invitation to partner in the good work before us.In practical terms that means that every part of your experience here is designed to help you explore the development ofcharacter through the lens of Christian worldview. So, whether you are sitting in class, participating in a sport or club, responding to an online post, watching a game or performance, eating in the dining hall, attending a Zoom Session, hanging outin the dorms, scrolling virtually, or just walking through our virtual or residential campus – you will be challenged to grow – notjust in mind – but in every aspect of your life.To help you on that journey you will find that Central Christian College of Kansas offers faculty, staff, coaches, and friends – afamily – all ready to challenge you in your pursuit of character. So, welcome! We are here to serve you. So, let us know what we can do to make your experience incredible!God Bless You,Leonard F. FavaraPresident

INTRODUCTIONstature and favor. These same ideals serve as the basisthrough which Central Christian College has chosen tomeasure the effectiveness of its mission. Our MissionCentral Christian College of Kansas, an evangelical ChristianCollege embracing the Wesleyan tradition, is dedicated toeducating men and women of character who will impactthe world for Christ. The mission statement, “ChristCentered Education for Character,” affirms the ethos thathas inspired the College since its inception. Our missiondrives us forward to higher levels of excellence anddistinction as we seek to glorify God in our programs.Through our residential program centrally located inMcPherson, Kansas, and through our global online learningenvironment, Central Christian College of Kansas isdedicated to providing a Christ-centered education forcharacter. It is important to note that there is no hierarchal structureto these four elements. One is not necessarily moreimportant than another and no one element can be viewedin isolation from the others, since the four operate intandem, and in deference to God.These four character outcomes (The CORE4) serve as thevirtues toward which the College presumes every studentshould demonstrate progress during his or her residencyand beyond. The CORE4 represents the outcomes CentralChristian College of Kansas uses as a gauge relative to thefulfilment of its mission. These four character outcomesserve as the virtues toward which the College presumesevery student should demonstrate progress during his orher interaction with the College. Our VisionCentral Christian College aspires to provide atransformative educational experience rooted in Christ andfocused on providing a Christ-Centered Education forCharacter to any person desiring to become a faithfulsteward of heart, mind, soul, and strength.1It expresses a comprehensive approach to the educationalexperience. While it appreciates the discussion about theintegration of faith and learning, it assumes that faith andlearning need not be considered as two elements requiringintegration. Rather, it recognizes that faith development, properly undersood, is an outcome of the pursuit of truththrough learning. Our OutcomesRecognizing the perspective of the College, which focuseson a Christ-Centered approach to defining its function(s),Central Christian College of Kansas has chosen to use thelife of Christ to distinguish how Character is to beinterpreted. In Luke 2:52 the gospel writer asserts Jesus“grew in wisdom and stature and in favor with God andman.” In other words, Christ’s life reflected the type ofcharacter that allowed him to be wise, revered, andrespected. Furthermore, this description captures theholistic reality of humanity, recognizing both therelationship humanity has with its Creator, as well asrelationships within creation. Therefore, the role of the College is to amplify truth, as itpresents itself through the arts and sciences, providing thefoundation upon which Christ-Centered Character can beformed.Understanding how Jesus grew in wisdom, stature, andfavor provides a roadmap in defining character. JesusHimself provides this insight when He described His ownperspective concerning the objective of His life energies. InMark 12:28-30, Jesus responds, “Love the Lord your Godwith all your heart and with all your soul and with all yourmind and with all your strength”.In acknowledging this as the “Greatest Commandment”Christ elevated these four criteria as terminal values, representing the highest ideals of human functioning. Inturn, each criterion represents an essential element ofcharacter, which allows the individual to grow in wisdom,1Revised in 20201 HEARTWe believe that graduates should demonstratecivic and moral leadership, in order “to do good;seek justice, and correct oppression.” SOULSWe believe graduates should demonstrate anappreciation for the Lordship of Christ, “notlagging in diligence, fervent in spirit, serving theLord.” MINDWe believe graduates should demonstratereasoned and productive lifestyles, filled with the“Spirit of God, with wisdom, with understanding, with knowledge, and with all kinds of skills.”
