GIFTED FOR GIVING - next meeting June 18th at 12:30PMA Variation of "Footprints"As Christians walk the road of life which the Lord has given us, our goalis to follow the directions the Lord gave to the disciples. A measure ofhow successfully we accomplish this is to compare our actions with theactions Jesus would take in a similar situation. There are times when weare sure we have done okay. There are times when we are sure we havemissed the mark, and yes, there are those times when we are confusedand don’t know if the Lord would be pleased with our actions. Well, don’t beat yourselves up. The unknown author of the following articlemay have the answer.Imagine you and the Lord Jesus walking down the road together. Formuch of the way, the Lord’s footprints go along steadily, consistently, rarely varying the pace. But your footprints are a disorganized stream ofzigzags, starts, stops, turnarounds, circles, departures and returns. Formuch of the way it seems to go like this. But gradually, your footprintscome more in line with the Lord’s, paralleling his consistently. You andJesus are walking as true friends. This seems perfect, but then an interesting thing happens: your footprintswhich once etched the sand next to the Master’s are now walking precisely in his steps. Inside his larger footprints is the small ’sandprint’, safelyenclosed. You and Jesus are becoming one. This goes on for many miles, but gradually you notice another change. The footprint inside the larger footprint seems to grow larger. Eventuallyit disappears altogether. There is only one set of footprints. They havebecome one. Again, this goes on for a long time, but then something awful happens - the second set of footprints is back, and this time it seemsworse. Zigzags all over the place. Starts. Stops. Deep gashes in the sand.A veritable mess of prints. You are amazed and shocked, but this is theend of your dream. Now you speak. ‘Lord I understand the first scene with zigzags and fitsand starts and so on. I was a new Christian, just learning. But you walkedon through the storm and helped me learn to walk with you.’‘That is correct.’‘Yes, and when the smaller footprints were inside of yours, I was actually learning to walk in your steps. I followed you very closely.’‘Very good.’ You have understood everything so far.’8‘Then the smaller footprints grew larger and eventually filled inwith yours. I suppose that I was actually growing so much that I‘Precisely’.‘But this is my question, Lord; was there a regression or something? Thefootprints went back to two, and this time it was worse that the first.’The Lord smiles, then laughs. ‘You didn’t know?’ He says, ‘That iswhen we danced.’Don’t be too hard on yourself. You may be doing better than you think.Submitted by the Gifted for Giving MinistryFATHERS HONORED& GRADS CELEBRATED - June 17thWe will have our usual "guilt-free" apple fritters for our dads and fatherfigures on June 17th, and we will also be celebrating all of our 2018 highschool and 8th grade graduates with cards and cake.
