MONDAY 28 JUNEFEAR NOTGOD IS IN CONTROLAs we start our Week of Prayer and Fasting, we know that these are uncertain times that welive in. Fear and anxiety have gripped the hearts of many. However, no matter what is going on in our lives, in this nation and around the world, GODIS IN CONTROL! Nothing catches Him by surprise. You can find strength, comfort and confidence in the truth that God is sovereign over every situation and that nothing is beyond Hispower! This is what the Lord said to Jeremiah.Jeremiah 32:27 (NIV)“I am the Lord, the God of all mankind. Is anything too hard for me?Friends, what is impossible for man is not impossible with God! Let us come before Him thisweek in faith, humility, surrender and expectation. We shall receive strength and grace tohelp us in our time of need. More than that, we shall be astounded and amazed at what Godwill do!Week Of Prayer and Fasting Fear Not

Here are some things to note: Prayer can be defined as communing or fellowshipping with God.This includes us asking and making requests to God as well as allowing time for Him to respond Fasting is essentially giving up food (or something else) for a period of time in order tospend that time communing/fellowshipping with GodTherefore prayer and fasting can be defined as the discipline of disconnecting oneself fromthe world and connecting with God.The Scriptures have taught us directly and by the examples of people in the Bible, thatprayer and fasting is something important for us as God’s people.Reasons we fast include: To spend time with God ( Ex. 34:28) To ask for guidance and direction on major life issues (Acts 13:1-3, Judges 20:26-28) For Spiritual strength when going through a trial (Luke 4:1-2, 2 Sam.12:16-17) To seek favor ( Esther 4:15-16, Nehemiah 1:4,11) To seek God’s divine intervention (Daniel 10:3, Matt. 7:20-21) To experience victory over sin and bondage ( Is. 58:6, Mark. 9:25- 29)Types of fasts include: A Regular Fast: where we refrain from eating food but drink water or juice during the fast A Partial Fast (Daniel fast): where we omit a specific meal ( breakfast, lunch, dinner) orrefrain from certain types of foods (Daniel 10:2-3, Daniel 1:12) A Full (absolute) Fast: where we refrain from food and drink completely. Acts 9:9 andEsther 4:15-16. We recommend that this type of fast be done with wisdom and counselThe effectiveness of prayer and fasting is not in the number of words we use while prayingor the amount of time we stay away from food and drink. It is not in the measure of sufferingwe endure while fasting. But rather in the genuine desire to connect with God during thetime of prayer and fasting (Psalms 27:8 NLT). Don’t place your trust in the fasting, place yourtrust in God.Prayerfully prepare and decide which kind of fast you will do for the next week as wespend time in the presence of God.Things to look out for this week: Please join in with a Watoto Church Pastor on Power FM every morning (7:30am to 8am),afternoon (12pm to 1pm) and evening (8pm to 9pm) for prayer Post your prayer requests on the Watoto Church and 104.1 Power FM Facebook, Twitterand Instagram pages throughout the week. FRIDAY 2 JULYFEAR NOTGOD IS YOUR HEALERThroughout the Bible, God is revealed to us as the Healer! Not just as One who performsmiracles of healing, but as the One who heals! In Exodus 15:26, God Himself says, “ I am theLORD who heals you.”It is important for us to be reminded of this because we live in a time when disease and sickness have greatly destroyed the lives of thousands of people. And as such, the news aboutbeing infected with these diseases or illnesses leaves people helpless and in fear. The newsof being Covid19 positive, or being diagnosed with cancer, or a heart complication, sendspeople into panic and fear.In Mark 5:35-36, when Jairus receives the bad news of the death of his daughter, a sense ofhelplessness and fear grips him. However, Jesus overheard the news and immediately tellsJairus, “Do not fear, only believe.”Jesus says the same to you today, “Do not fear, only believe.” Jesus recognizes your fear butis asking you to choose to believe that He is the LORD who heals you. In Matthew 4:23-24,we learn that Jesus can and is able to heal you from any disease, sickness or affliction. AndHe continues to heal people today through the presence and power of the Holy Spirit.Week Of Prayer and Fasting Fear Not
