INTRODUCTIONWeek1In this study, pleasebe sure to fill in allthe blanks andanswer all thequestions in thespaces provided. That will make thestudy personal andmeaningful to you. When you are askedto examine a givenscripture, it willusually be printed inthe left-handcolumn.Unless otherwise indicated, scripture passages are takenfrom The New InternationalVersion, (Grand Rapids, MI:Zondervan Publishing House)1984.Memory Verse:2 Corinthians 4:5We do not preachourselves, but JesusChrist as Lord, andourselves as yourservants for Jesus’sake.Page 2Why This Study? How many Bible studies are commanded in Scripture?I know of only one. At Matthew 28:18-20, as Jesusprepared to leave this earth, he gave his marchingorders to his disciples:“All authority in heaven and on earth has beengiven to me. 19 Therefore go and makedisciples of all nations, baptizing them in thename of the Father and of the Son and of theHoly Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obeyeverything I have commanded you. Andsurely I am with you always, to the very end ofthe age.”Let’s look carefully at that scripture. We are to makeof all nations. Jesus said we areto teach them “to I havecommanded you.”If Jesus commanded this study, there must be a goodreason for it. It made a huge impact on me. I didthis study as a new believer. It transformed my lifeand I pray it will yours. It is my hope that you will think it so important you’llwant to teach it or help someone else teach it. Thiscan be an important and continuing part of yourservice to your Lord and to your church throughoutyour Christian life and a continuing act of obedience toJesus’ command. Let’s see why that is so.Why should we study the teachings and commands ofJesus? Unless there is a compelling reason it mightnot seem important. Jesus commanded this study.Let’s first examine who Jesus is that we should obeyhim.State in a sentence or two what Jesus means to youand what your relationship is to him:

Jesus is LordIn our culture people often can’t relate well to thestatement, “Jesus is Lord.” What is a “Lord”? I triedto answer that for my grandson when he was veryyoung. I gave him a simple answer, “Think of Jesusas the boss.” He understood that. When Jesus lived on earth, people who had positionsof authority were often called “lord.” They also hadkings in those days. When we speak of the Lordshipof Jesus, we remember the scriptures that say he isKing of kings and Lord of lords. He is more importantthan all kings and all lords.Matthew 28:18 ThenJesus came to them andsaid, “All authority inheaven and on earth hasbeen given to me. . .John 13:13“You call me ‘Teacher’and ‘Lord,’ and rightly so,for that is what I am.Colossians 1:17-18He is before all things, and in him all things holdtogether. 18 And he is thehead of the body, thechurch; he is thebeginning and thefirstborn from among thedead, so that ineverything he might havethe supremacy.Philippians 2:9-11Therefore, God exaltedhim to the highest placeand gave him the namethat is above every name,10that at the name ofJesus every knee shouldbow, in heaven and onearth and under theearth, 11 and every tongueconfess that Jesus Christis Lord, to the glory ofGod the Father.Read Matthew 28:18. What did Jesus say?authority in and has beengiven to me. Can anyone have more authority thanthat or can anyone be more important than that?In John 13:13, Jesus claimed two titles. He said hewas and .Look at Colossians 1:17 where Paul is describingJesus to the church at Colossus. He said Jesus isall things. And he is the of thebody. . . so that in he might havethe .Paul told of the glory, power, and authority given toJesus in Philippians 2:9-11. He said God exaltedJesus to the place and gave him thename that is every name. He told of thereverence we should have for Jesus – that at thename of Jesus should bow inand on and under the .Every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ isto the of God the Father. In reading about Jesus in the Gospels, we envisionhim walking in sandals and a long robe with hisdisciples along dusty roads. In those passages heseems very much like us, as indeed he was. Hebecame a man with a physical body. Is that the sameJesus we have been reading about, that Paul is sayinghas the name above every name?Though that is the same Jesus, he has now beenraised to the right hand of God the Father with gloryand majesty and power.Page3

Revelation 1: 12-16And when I turned I sawseven goldenlampstands, 13and amongthe lamp-stands wassomeone “like a son ofman,” dressed in a robereaching down to his feetand with a golden sasharound his chest. 14Hishead and hair were whitelike wool, as white assnow, and his eyes werelike blazing fire. 15Hisfeet were like bronzeglowing in a furnace, andhis voice was like thesound of rushing waters.16In his right hand he heldseven stars, and out ofhis mouth came a sharpdouble-edged sword. Hisface was like the sunshining in all its brilliance.Revelation 5:12In a loud voice they sang:“Worthy is the Lamb, whowas slain, to receivepower and wealth andwisdom and strength andhonor and glory andpraise.”Let’s look at how the Apostle John saw him in a visionas recorded in Revelation 1:12-16. He described himas someone “ .” Hewas dressed in a long robe with aaround his chest. His head and hair were like .His eyes were like . His feetwere like glowing in a furnace. His voicewas like the sound of .In his right hand he held seven . Out of hismouth came a sharp - .His face was like the , shining in all its.As recorded at Revelation 5:12, John saw Jesus, asthe Lamb, receiving great honor in heaven. Ahundred million angels sang, “ is the, who was . . .”Then John saw a vision of the time of the end. Againwe are privileged to see Jesus described as he now is:“I saw heaven standing open and therebefore me was a white horse, whose rider iscalled Faithful and True. With justice he judgesand makes war. 12 His eyes are like blazing fire, and on his head are many crowns. He has aname written on him that no one knows but hehimself. 13 He is dressed in a robe dipped inblood, and his name is the Word of God.11The armies of heaven were following him, riding on white horses and dressed in finelinen, white and clean. 15 Out of his mouthcomes a sharp sword with which to strike downthe nations. “He will rule them with an ironscepter.” He treads the winepress of the furyof the wrath of God Almighty. 16 On his robeand on his thigh he has this name written:KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS”(Revelation 19:11-16).14That is the LORD JESUS CHRIST as he is now, with allpower and authority in heaven and on earth. What is the most important statement you have readin today’s study?Page 4

Has your view of the Lord Jesus changed? State how:Summary Statements Jesus is LORD.Jesus has all authority in heaven and onearth. God exalted Jesus to the highest place andgave him the name that is above everyname.Jesus is LORD. allJesusis beforeall things, and in him allJesus hasauthorityin heavenand on earth.things hold together.Jesus as LORDDAY2Acts 2:36“Therefore let all Israel beassured of this: God hasmade this Jesus, whomyou crucified, both Lordand Christ.”1 Corinthians 8:5-6For even if there are socalled gods, whether inheaven or on earth (asindeed there are many“gods” and many “lords”),6yet for us there is butone God, the Father, fromwhom all things came andfor whom we live; andthere is but one Lord,Jesus Christ, throughwhom all things came andthrough whom we live. How Did Jesus Become Lord?Peter told the Jews (see Acts 2:36): has madethis Jesus both and .Is There More Than One Lord?In Jesus’ days on earth there were many lords. It wasa common title of respect. But there were none withthe power and authority of Jesus. His name whencapitalized is above all others. In 1 Corinthians 8:6,Paul answered the question by saying there is butLord, Jesus Christ, through whom thingscame and through whom we .In the days of the early church, Caesar decreed thateveryone in the Roman Empire would greet eachother with the salutation, "Caesar is Lord."In a story handed down about a first century family ofChristians, some Roman soldiers met the father anddemanded that he greet them with, "Caesar is Lord."He refused, saying, "Jesus is Lord."When the father continued to refuse, he and his familywere taken to the lions' arena in Rome and told thatunless he proclaimed, "Caesar is Lord," one by one hisfamily would be thrown to the lions. He was horrified, but shook his head and repeatedsoftly, "Jesus is Lord."Page5

The officials angrily ordered his youngest child, a son,to be thrown to the lions. As the family watched inhorror, the boy was torn apart by the lions. Again thefather was commanded to proclaim that Caesar isLord.Choking back tears, he responded as before, "Jesus isLord."Another child, and still another, were thrown to thelions. The officials themselves were appalled. Theyhad expected the father to compromise his beliefs andsay that Caesar was Lord. They sympathetically toldthe father that the words weren't important, that eventhough he didn't believe them, all he had to do wassay them and he and the rest of his family would besaved. With pain and anguish on his face, the manrepeated, "I cannot. Jesus is Lord."The entire family perished that day.Their death shows that the early church knew JesusChrist to be "Lord." To the early church, the fact thatJesus is Lord was worth dying for. Doubtless theyknew that Jesus said he would acknowledge beforethe angels of God those who acknowledge him, but hewould disown before the angels of God those whodisown him before men. See Luke 12:8-9.The first-century church was taught by Peter, Paul, and the other apostles. The father, who refused tocall Caesar "Lord," might have heard Paul teach,"There is but one Lord, Jesus Christ."Romans 14:9For this very reason,Christ died and returnedto life so that he might bethe Lord of both the deadand the living.Matthew 28:18All authority in heavenand on earth has beengiven unto me.Revelation 17:14They will make waragainst the Lamb, but theLamb will overcome thembecause he is Lord oflords and King of kings.Page 6Why Did Jesus Die and Rise Again?Paul explained in Romans 14:9. Jesus died andreturned to life so he might be the of boththe and the .Does the Lord Jesus Have Power toOvercome? In Matthew 28:18 Jesus said “All inheaven and on earth has been given unto .”In Revelation 17:14, the end-times are describedwhen the enemies of God will make war against Jesuswho is called the Lamb. Why will Jesus overcome

them? Because he is of lords andof kings.Revelation 19:15Out of his mouth comes asharp sword with which tostrike down the nations.Revelation 19:21The rest of them werekilled with the sword thatcame out of the mouth ofthe rider on the horse. . .Revelation 19:15 and 21 both describe Jesus as awarrior King. What do they say came out of hismouth? . What doesRevelation 19:15 say he will do with the sword?.How Does God Intend We See Jesus?Think of the use of repetition. If you tell someonesomething over and over you're probably trying tomake an important point. On the other hand, if youmention something only once or twice, likely thesubject isn't nearly as important to you.The same principle applies in Scripture. You and Imight repeat something out of habit or anger orimpatience. God isn't subject to our frailties. When God repeats something, do you agree that hehas a special purpose in mind?Do you suppose he wants us to understand what herepeats?God gives us multiple opportunities so that we trulywill be without excuse if we fail to obey.As we look at the frequency with which titles of Jesusare used in the New Testament, let's ask ourselveswhether God's repetition is intentional.Lord618Christ543Son of Man84Teacher42Son of God37King35Lamb32Savior15Prophet15Master11High Priest7Two titles seem to dominate, don’t they? They areand .Page7

The title “Christ” is extremely important, meaning the“Anointed One”. There are said to be over threehundred prophecies about the coming of the AnointedOne in the Old Testament of the Bible. Jesus, andJesus alone, fulfilled all those prophecies except thosestill to be fulfilled. Those fulfilled propheciesauthenticate Scripture as God’s word and authenticateJesus as the prophesied Christ – the Anointed One –who was prophesied to come as King and Lord. What is the most important statement you’ve learnedtoday?Has your view of Jesus changed since we began thisstudy? If so, how?Summary Statements DAY3Romans 10:9If you confess with yourmouth, “Jesus is Lord,”and believe in your heartthat God raised him fromthe dead, you will besaved.God made Jesus Lord. There is but one Lord, Jesus Christ.Jesus is Lord of lords, and King of kings. The title “Lord” is used of Jesus morethan any other title.Jesus died and returned to life so thathe might be the Lord of both the deadand the living.Salvation is Through Faith in theLORD Jesus Christ!Have you heard that all one has to do is accept Jesusas one’s Savior and you will have eternal life? If so,you may be surprised to find that this is not true. There is no Scripture that either says or implies that.On the other hand, there are many Scriptures thatteach that salvation is attained through faith in ChristJesus as Lord.Romans 10:9 says that we must confess with ourthat and believe in ourhearts that raised him from the . It saysif we do that we will be .Page 8

Romans 10:13“Everyone who calls onthe name of the Lord willbe saved.” (Quoting Joel2:32 and Acts 2:21).Acts 16:31They replied, “Believe inthe Lord Jesus, and youwill be saved—you andyour household.”1 Peter 3:15But in your hearts setapart Christ as Lord.Colossians 2:6-7So then, just as youreceived Christ Jesus asLord, continue to live inhim, 7rooted and built upin him, strengthened inthe faith as you weretaught, and overflowingwith thankfulness.Acts 20:21I have declared to bothJews and Greeks thatthey must turn to God inrepentance and havefaith in our Lord Jesus.2 Corinthians 4:5For we do not preachourselves, but JesusChrist as Lord, andourselves as yourservants for Jesus’ sake.Romans 10:13 says that everyone who calls on theof the Lord will be saved. What does itmean to call on the “name” of the Lord? In the daysin which that was written, to call on the name of aperson meant to invoke all that person was, all hisattributes, power, talents, and titles. It was allinclusive of the person. When Paul and Silas were asked by the Philippianjailer what he must do to be saved (Acts 16:31), whatdid they say? “ in the Jesus, and you will be saved – you and your household.”What Did the Apostles Preach About Jesus? In addition to the foregoing (and hundreds of othermentions of Jesus as Lord), what did the early churchpreach about Jesus as Lord?It is common in many churches to hear that weshould receive Jesus as our Savior. But there is noScripture whatsoever that says that. Colossians 2:6 isthe only scripture in the New Testament which tells inwhat way Christ Jesus is to be received: “Just as youreceived Christ Jesus as , continue to live inhim . . .”At Acts 20:21, Paul summarized what he taughtduring his ministry to the Ephesian elders, saying:“. . . they must turn to in repentance andhave faith in our Jesus. Is the evidence becoming overwhelming that Jesusmust be Lord and that that is what the apostlestaught?Paul told the Corinthians what the apostles preached:“We do not preach , but Jesus Christas , and ourselves as your servants forJesus’ sake. (See 2 Corinthians 4:5.)Paul said they preached that they were servants forJesus’ sake. As you might have begun to see, because of who the Lord Jesus is, because of hispower, might, and authority, all believers are indeedhis servants or, perhaps stated more correctly, hisslaves. In fact, they are a special kind of servant – abond-servant or bond-slave.Bond-Servant of the LordThe New Testament writers thought of theirrelationship to the Lord Jesus and the Father as thatPage9

only translate the Greek word as servant. The NewAmerican Standard Bible does differentiate. (Theverses quoted are from the NAS.)Bond-servant defined. It was not uncommon, apparently, for an Israelite to be indentured (as aservant or slave) by one of his fellow Israelites for anunpaid debt. However, every seven years theindentured Israelite had to be set free by his Israelitemaster, as required by the Law of Moses. In some instances, genuine affection developedbetween master and servant. Sometimes, perhaps, the servant was treated well and living much betterthan he had before. For those reasons, someservants did not want to be released from theirposition as slaves at the end of the seven years.Philippians 2:5-7Have this attitude inyourselves which was alsoin Christ Jesus, 6 who, although He existed in theform of God, did notregard equality with Goda thing to be grasped, 7but emptied Himself, taking the form of abond-servant, and beingmade in the likeness ofmen. (NAS)Romans 1:1Paul, a bond-servant ofChrist Jesus, . . .(See also Titus 1:1(NAS)).Galatians 1:10For am I now seeking thefavor of men, or of God?Or am I striving to pleasemen? If I were still tryingto please men, I wouldnot be a bond-servant ofChrist. (NAS)Page 10Those that did not want to be released could continueto be the slave of their master, but there wereconditions attached to such a decision. If the servantdecided to remain as a slave to his master, he wouldnever thereafter be released from his bondage; hewould be a slave for life. Also, the decision had to bevoluntary and public. He had to announce to theelders at the gates of the city that he wished to be abond-servant of his master. Thus, by his ownvolition, the bond-servant became a voluntary slavefor life. The ceremony marking a person becoming a bondservant included having an awl driven through hisearlobe into the door post of the master’s house.Often the bond-servant was given a gold earring towear, denoting his special position as bond-servant.Jesus and Apostles as Bond-ServantsJesus modeled being a bond-servant. Though he hadcome from God and was God, Philippians 2:6-7 sayshe did not regard with God a thing tobe grasped, but Himself, taking theform of a - , being made inthe likeness of .Paul spoke of himself as a bond-servant (Romans 1:1)and wrote (see Galatians 1:10), “If I were still tryingto please men, I would not be a -of Christ.”In Colossians 1:7 and 4:7, Paul calls Epaphras andTychicus fellow bond-servants.

James 1:1James, a bond-servant ofGod and of the Lord JesusChrist. (NAS)When writing Timothy, Paul told the qualities of theLord’s bond-servant – kind to all, able to teach, patient when wrong. (Look up 2 Timothy 2:24).2 Peter 1:1Simon Peter, a bondservant and apostle ofJesus Christ. (NAS)James, Peter, and Jude also called themselves bondservants. It is apparent that the apostles all regardedthemselves as bond-servants. But does that extendto the rest of us? Are all true Christians also bondservants of the Lord Jesus?Jude 1:1Jude, a bond-servant ofJesus Christ. (NAS)John answered those questions when he began writingthe Revelation of Jesus Christ:1 Corinthians 6:19You are not your own;you were bought at aprice.Revelation 1:1 The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave Him to show to His bondservants, the things which must shortly takeplace; and He sent and communicated it by Hisangel to His bond-servant John, . . . (NAS)The book of Revelation was written for us – you andme – in part to reveal God’s plans for the end times. When John began his letter, saying “which God gaveHim to show to His - , he wascalling each of us a bond-servant. Of course that onlyapplies to someone who has a saving faith in Jesus asLord.1 Corinthians 7:21-22He who was a free manwhen he was called isChrist’s slave. 22 Youwere bought at a price.A bond-servant is really a bond-slave. Rememberthat this is a voluntary relationship that a personcommits to for life. A slave is owned by his master. Now we can understand what Paul is saying at 1Corinthians 6:19 when he says, “You are not. You were at a . Seealso 1 Corinthians 7:21-22.What is the most important statement you learnedfrom today’s study?Summary Statements Salvation is gained by believing in Jesusas Lord.Set apart Christ as Lord in your hearts. The early Christians preached JesusChrist as Lord.Early Christians received Christ Jesus asLord.Christians were bought at a price andare bond-servants of the Lord Jesus.Page11

DAY4Matthew 28:19-20Therefore go and makedisciples of all nations, baptizing them in thename of the Father and ofthe Son and of the HolySpirit, and 20teachingthem to obey everything Ihave commanded you.Jesus’ Command to His DisciplesIf we are bond-servants of the Lord Jesus, what wouldbe an expected consequence of that relationship?Shouldn’t we, as bond-servants obey his commands?Shouldn’t we eagerly desire to learn his commands sowe may please him? Matthew 28:19-20 are the directcommands of the Lord Jesus to his disciples thatpertain to what they are to do when he goes back tohis Father. What did Jesus say in verse 19 that we are to do?Jesus’ primary command was to make disciples of allnations. Then we are to do two things with thesedisciples: (1) we are to them in thename of the Father and of the and of theHoly Spirit and (2) teach them to obeyI have you.The commands we just reviewed - to make disciples,to baptize, and to teach them to obey everythingJesus commanded - are also commands to us tomake, baptize, and teach new disciples. There aremany other commands Jesus gave his disciples thatare the subject of this study.Obedience to Jesus’ Commands is Related toSalvationThis statement might cause some to immediatelyclaim that this is a doctrine of salvation by works. Itis not. Ephesians 2:8-10 makes clear that salvation isnot by works. Then how can obedience be related tosalvation? Obedience is the evidence of a savingfaith. The person who is not obedient does not have asaving faith. The following will illustrate clearly fromScripture the truth of these statements.Luke 6:46“Why do you call me,‘Lord, Lord,’ and do notdo what I say? Some Refuse to ObeySome people mouth the words, “Lord, Lord,” butmake no attempt to obey. I wonder how much of thatis done today. Jesus saw it and asked the questionyou find at Luke 6:46. What were these people callinghim? , . What were these peoplenot doing?Do you know of people today who use the words“Lord, Lord,” but do not obey Jesus?Do you?Page 12

Luke 6:47-49I will show you what he islike who comes to me andhears my words and putsthem into practice. 48 Heis like a man building ahouse, who dug downdeep and laid thefoundation on rock. Whena flood came, the torrentstruck that house butcould not shake it,because it was well built.49But the one who hearsmy words and does notput them into practice islike a man who built ahouse on the groundwithout a foundation. Themoment the torrentstruck that house, itcollapsed and itsdestruction wascomplete.”Hebrews 5:9He [Jesus] became thesource of salvation for allwho obey him.Isn’t that a terrible affront to Jesus? Perhaps manydon’t understand the importance of the words of Jesus– his teachings and commands. At Luke 6:47, Jesus gives an example of theimportance of his words. In the first part of hisillustration, he uses the example of a person whohears his words and into. He is like a man building a house whodug down deep and laid the on .When the flood came, the torrent struck that housebut shake it.But beginning at v. 49, Jesus tells of the man whohears his words and put them intopractice. He is like a man who built a house on theground a foundation. When the torrentstruck that house, it and its destructionwas complete. The key instruction in Jesus’ example was that wemust both hear his words and then put them intopractice. The writer to the Hebrews confirmed that at Hebrews5:9. He said, became the source offor all who obey him.Salvation is Only For Those Who Do theWill of GodHave you ever heard the term “gospel-hardened”? Itrefers to people who attend church faithfully, and mayhave heard hundreds – even thousands – of sermons, yet fail to show evidence of a commitment to Christ intheir lives. Consider that as you read Matthew 7:21.Who did Jesus say are the only ones who will enterthe kingdom of heaven?Once again we see that only those will be saved whodo the will of God. Do you believe you do the will ofGod and will enter the kingdom of heaven? If not, why not? What is the most important truth you learned intoday’s study?Page13

Summary Statements DAY5Matthew 7:21“Not everyone who saysto me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ willenter the kingdom ofheaven, but only he whodoes the will of my Fatherwho is in heaven.John 6:38For I have come downfrom heaven not to do mywill but to do the will ofhim who sent me.John 7:16Jesus answered, “Myteaching is not my own. Itcomes from him who sentme.John 8:28So Jesus said, “When youhave lifted up the Son ofMan, then you will knowthat I am the one I claimto be and that I donothing on my own butspeak just what theFather has taught me.John 12:49For I did not speak of myown accord, but theFather who sent mecommanded me whatto say and how to say it.I know that his commandleads to eternal life. Sowhatever I say is justwhat the Father has toldme to say.”Page 14 Jesus commanded us to teach newdisciples to obey everything hecommanded.Jesus is the source of salvation for allwho obey him.Only those who do the will of God willenter the kingdom of heaven. We must hear and obey Jesus’ words. The Will of GodWhat is the “Will Of God” ThatNew Testament Believers Must Obey?Matthew 7:21 says only those who do the will of Godwill enter the kingdom of heaven. What is the “will ofGod” that must be obeyed by all those who will enterthe kingdom of heaven? Some might say it is all theScripture; others the 10 Commandments; others thecommand of Jesus for us to love one another. Inorder for us to do the will of God, we must know whatthe will of God is. Let’s see what Jesus said.In John 6:38, Jesus sets for himself the samestandard that Matthew 7:21 sets for us. Jesus said hecame down from heaven toThen Jesus began to show us how his teachings andcommands relate to the will of God. In John 7:16,what did Jesus say was the origin of his teaching:Next, in John 8:28 and 12:49, Jesus revealed theextent to which he was obedient to the Father. Hesaid, “I do on my own but justwhat the Father has taught me. In 12:49 he againsaid, “the Father who sent me commanded meand to say it. Imagine that! Godnot only told Jesus what to say but how to say it.Jesus then reaffirmed “ I say is justwhat the Father has told me to say.”We must pay close attention to what Jesus has said.Jesus said all his words are God’s words – noneare his own. He even said those words the way Godtold him to say them.

John 14:24 These wordsyou hear are not my own;they belong to the Fatherwho sent me.In John 14:24, Jesus gives God ownership of hiswords: “they to the Father who sentme.”Jesus connected love and obedience when he said,“The world must learn that I love the Fatherand that I do exactly what my Father hascommanded me” (John 14:31).The will of God for New Testament believers iseverything that Jesus taught and commanded. Everyword Jesus taught and commanded came from God.The Words of JesusJohn 3:34For the one whom Godhas sent speaks thewords of God, for Godgives the Spirit withoutlimit.John 6:63The Spirit gives life; theflesh counts for nothing. The words I have spokento you are spirit and theyare life.Luke 6:47-49I will show you what he islike who comes to me andhears my words and putsthem into practice. 48 Heis like a man building ahouse, who dug downdeep and laid thefoundation on rock. When a flood came, thetorrent struck that housebut could not shake it,because it was well built.49But the one who hearsmy words and does notput them into practice islike a man who built ahouse on the groundwithout a foundation. Themoment the torrentstruck that house, itcollapsed and itsdestruction wascomplete.”Jesus Spoke the Words and Will of GodAs one might expect, if Jesus was speaking the wordsof God that were the will of God, those words arespecial. Let’s look at some scriptures that make thatpoint. In John 3:34, Jesus is the one whom God has sent.Jesus said he speaks the of God.In John 6:63, Jesus spoke to the quality and power ofthe words he spoke. “The words I have spoken to youare and they are .In Luke 6:47, we see again the parable Jesus taughtabout the men who built homes, one on a rock andthe other without a foundation. This time we want toespecially notice what Jesus said about his words. The person who built laying his foundation on rock isthe one who my words and puts them into. But Jesus (at v. 49) said the onewho heard his words and does not put them intois like the man whose house collapsedthe moment the torrent struck the house. Jesus saidits destruction was complete.Because Jesus spoke the will of God, it is expectedthat his words are special. Indeed we’ve found: (1)his words are the words of God, (2) they are spiritand the

Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, 11 and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. Though that is the same Jesus, he has now been is Lord statement, "Jesus is Lord." What is a "Lord"? I tried to answer that for my grandson when he was very young.
