Columbia Nursing Assistant Academy, Inc.b. MISS Health Care Training Institutec. Frederick County Health Department School Aide Programd. Kahak Healthcare AcademyThe programs have been made aware (in writing) the followingCOMAR 10.39.02.10;.10 Voluntary Closing.A. When the facility, institution, or individual considers closing a nursing assistant training program, thefacility, institution, or individual shall:(1) Notify the Board in writing of the intended closing date; and(2) Continue the program until the committed class schedule of currently enrolled students is completed.B. Custody of Student Records.(1) If the nursing assistant training program closes, but the controlling institution continues to function,the controlling institution shall assume responsibility for the records of the students and the graduates.The Board shall be advised of the arrangements made to safeguard the records.(2) If a controlling institution that has obtained a certificate of approval from the Maryland HigherEducation Commission plans to cease operations, the institution shall file the records of students and

graduates, or legible copies of those records, with the Maryland Higher Education Commission asrequired by Education Article, §11-401, Annotated Code of Maryland.(3) If a controlling institution that is not required to obtain Maryland Higher Education Commissionapproval plans to cease operations, the Board and the controlling institution shall reach a mutualagreement about the disposition of student records.

B3Jill Callan, BSN, RNNurse Program Consultant IMaryland Board of NursingThe BoardOctober 25, 2017Request for Approval of CNA Training Program-ClinicalFacilityThe following clinical facility has been visited and reviewed for clinical and didactictraining and has satisfied all requirements of COMAR 10.39.02 for CNA Training ProgramsClinical Facilities in the State of Maryland:Montgomery College is requesting the use of Brooke Grove Retirement Community for thedidactic and clinical portion of their CNA training program. Brooke Grove Community islicensed by the State of Maryland as a Comprehensive Care Facility for 190 beds. Currently,there are 176 beds comprised of 4 units. There are 2 Long Term Care units with a total capacityof 120 residents. The patient population consists of post-surgical patients and those with multipleco-morbidities.Brooke Grove employs Registered Nurses, Licensed Practical Nurses, Medicine Aides andGeriatric Nursing Assistants. This facility has (twenty full time) (eight part time) registerednurses and fifteen full time licensed practical nurses. This facility also has (eight full time) (eight part time) Certified Medicine Aides and (63 full time) (20 part time) Geriatric NursingAssistants.There have not been any Immediate Jeopardy (IJ) deficiencies in the last 2 years; nor arethey working on a plan of correction for OHCQ at this time.Montgomery College will maintain the 1:8 instructor/student ratio for the clinical training.

The Johns Hopkins School of Nursing no longer offers the Bachelor ofScience (BSN) Program for nurses.The request for the Board is to give approval for this portion of the Johns Hopkins Schoolof Nursing Program as meeting the requirements the Board has determined for a CNA TrainingProgram (ref. assessment is the collection and analysis of data which are essential in planning safe andeffective patient care. Lectures are designed to help the students apply their knowledge of healthassessment to both primary and acute care settings. Emphasis is placed on gathering reliable andrelevant information; recognizing variations of normal findings; and identifying abnormalfindings using common health problems as exemplars.NR 120-505 Common Health Alterations: This combined clinical and theory course introducesnursing basic concepts and frameworks (communication, safety, organization and nursingprocess). Additionally, this course will also introduce common conditions found in healthcare.Students practice competencies in communication, assessment, nursing interventions, anddocumentation in a variety of basic acute care clinical settings. Simulation is incorporated as anadjunct to the clinical experience.

Multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary collaboration, cultural competence, andprofessional interpersonal skills are modeled in order to achieve the goals of Healthy People

2010. Practice in the skills laboratory provides an opportunity for the students to examine andimplement the nursing process with individuals, families and communities throughout the lifespan as consumers and resources of health care. The nursing diagnosis process, healthscreening, referrals process, and physical examination techniques are discussed, applied, andpracticed in laboratory experiences.NURS 303-O Medical Surgical Nursing (5 Credits): This theoretical and clinical course preparesstudents to intervene with individuals in adult and elderly stages who present physiologicalalterations affecting their homeostasis. The focus is on the development of knowledge basedon application of the nursing process, communication skills, critical thinking and therapeuticinterventions, as essential to ensuring optimal care. The course includes theory, nursing skillslaboratory, clinical experiences (hospitals and communities), and seminars. The hospitals usedfor clinical practice are at secondary and tertiary levels of care.

To define the three purposes of evidence collection on pediatric victims of child maltreatment.2. To independently perform a pediatric sexual assault forensic exam observed by a Maryland Boardof Nursing certified RN-FNE or other medical provider that has been deemed an expert in the fieldof child sexual abuse.3. To observe the forensic pediatric interview process performed by a trained nurse examiner,pediatrician, or child therapist.4. To be familiar with child maltreatment physical examination including collection of evidence anddocumentation process.5. To meet all clinical competencies as set by your institution’s Forensic Nurse Examiner program.Suggestions for meeting these objectives: These objectives may be met by arranging to meet with an experienced and MBON certified RNForensic Nurse Examiner and preceptor or pediatrician identified as an expert in the field of childmaltreatment in your jurisdiction.Note: FNE Candidates should complete a minimum of 4 exams. The FNE Candidate, Preceptor, or ProgramCoordinator may require additional exams. A minimum of three total exams must be observed onfemales under 13 years of age. A minimum of one exam must be observed on a male under 13 years ofage.Clinical Hours: An evidentiary examination usually takes 2-4 hours per case.The total time to meet this objective requirement is 16 hours.
