ATTORNEY GENERALSTATE OF MONTANADepartment of Justice215 North SandersPO Box 201401Helena, MT 59620-1401Tim FoxAttorney GeneralFellow Montanans:More than a few visitors to our state have been struck by an apparentcontradiction. Our countless communities are spread across a vast land, yet attimes the state feels like a town where everyone knows each other. More thanjust vital arteries of our economy, our highways are a significant part of whatkeeps Montanans connected to one another.Protecting Montana's highways is no easy task. But our Highway PatrolTroopers stand watch in every corner of our state, often working in situationswhere backup is too far away to be of help in an immediate crisis. They worklong hours and are asked to spend considerable time away from their families.Too often, their work is taken for granted by the very citizens they serve.Yet when a vacancy opens, the Department of Justice receives a flood of applications. Men and womenof caliber are drawn to the pride in the uniform, the professionalism of conduct, and the solemn dignityofthe responsibilities. Our Troopers face challenges and combat dangers with a quiet, everyday couragethat constitutes nothing short of heroism. Montanans see that excellence, and a great many jump at thefirst opportunity to be part of it.I hope every Montanan will join me in supporting the phenomenal men and women of our HighwayPatrol.Sincerely,Tim FoxTELEPHONE:(406) 444-2026FAX: (406) 444-3549E-MAIL:contactdoj@mt.gov
