CHALFONT ST GILESPRE-SCHOOL PLAYGROUPEASTER ACTIVITY PACK

CHALFONT ST GILESPRE-SCHOOL PLAYGROUPEASY EASTER FUDGEIngredientsChocolate (milk, semi-sweet or dark, your preference)Sweetened condensed milk (make sure you have the rightkind of milk. This is different than evaporated milk orregular cows milk.)Mini marshmallows (because it gives this fudge a funcolor. If you don’t like marshmallows you don’t have toinclude them.)Cadbury Mini EggsVanilla (optional – Vanilla can give this fudge an addedhomemade richness)This fudge is so easy!In a microwave-safe bowl pour the chocolate chipsin the bottom then pour the sweetened condensedmilk over the top. It’s important to use SWEETENED CONDENSED MILK, it’svery thick, creamy and sweet. This milk can be found in thebaking aisle. Some people use evaporated milk or regular milk in thisrecipe DON’T DO IT!!! If you use something other thansweetened condensed milk this fudge WILL NOT SET.Pop the chocolate milk mixtureinto the microwave for2 1/2 to 3 minutes until themixture is hot and the chocolatebegins to melt.Stir the chocolate milk mixtureuntil the chocolate chips arecompletely melted. The chocolate shouldbe smooth.Next, add the vanilla, this ingredient is optional. I thinkthe vanilla gives this fudge a warm homemade flavor.Once the vanilla is mixed in, add the marshmallows. We like to use the multicolored marshmallows to givethis Easter fudge a few more pops of pastel color. If you prefer the plain white marshmallows, you can usethem instead or omit altogether.Line an 8 8-inch pan with waxed paper (you could alsouse parchment paper) then poured about half the minichocolate eggs in the bottom.Next, pour the fudge into the pan and spread evenlyuntil it’s smooth. Then top the fudge with the remainingmini chocolate eggs.Once it’s complete, pop it into the fridge to chill out,it takes about 45 minutes to ter-fudge/

CHALFONT ST GILESPRE-SCHOOL PLAYGROUPEASY PAINTED EASTER EGG ROCKSSUPPLIESRocks (make sure to look for rocks that are shapedlike an egg)Acrylic paint in pastel colorsPaintbrushes (you will need a medium one for painting theentire rock and a small one for painting in the details)1. First, you want to make sure your rocks are clean and dry.We collected our rocks outside so had to wash them first. You also want to find rocks that are already in an egg shape.2. Get your paint colors ready and choose a color to paintyour entire rock. Depending on the color you choose, youmight have to paint more than one coat. Our pink rockneeded 2 coats but our blue rock only needed 1, so it reallydepends on the color you choose. You want your coats of paint to be on the thinner side, thiswill prevent the paint from cracking and flaking off. Makesure your rock is completely dry before moving on.3. Now the fun part of creating your easter egg designs!Kids can choose to use a small paintbrush to create lines, zigzags, and squiggles and use q-tips to easily create dots.We had fun coming up with our Easter egg designs for ourrocks! Using q-tips to create the dots and a small detailbrush for the lines and zigzags makes it easier for kids topaint.4. Once kids are finished painting in their designs on theirrocks, let the rocks dry completely before sealing them. Ilike to let our rocks dry overnight just to make sure. Whenusing the q-tips, the paint goes on thicker so it can takelonger to dry.5. After your rocks have had a chance to dry you can sealthem to keep the colors nice and bright. We used justregular Mod Podge for ours since they are not going to beplaced outside. If you are going to be putting your rocks outside, you needto use a weatherproof sealer. Paint your rocks with 2 thincoats, letting them dry in between each coat.

CHALFONT ST GILESPRE-SCHOOL PLAYGROUPAT HOME TREASURE HUNTHow to play (prepping the game):1. Decide what the main ‘loot’ is going to be. It could be an Easter egg, Easter activity box orsomething entirely different which works with your family.2.3.Cut out each clue and gather them together. Optional - seal them each in a numbered envelope.Walk around the house and place the clues in the locations as indicated below:NOTE: keep hold of clue 1 as this is to give the scavenger to start the hunt with!2. Hall/Porch3. Shoe4. Sink5. Washing machine6. Letter box7. Living room8. Pyjama draw9. Fridge10. Bathroom sink11. Dining table12. Window13. Bed (end point)You can choose how difficult you make the game by how well you hide the envelope in the location. For younger children leave it somewhere obvious, but for older children you may want to attach it tothe underside of something so they have to work a bit harder. It’s fun to have some little extras at eachclue location such as sweet treats or mini-goodies. For the end you can choose to hide the ‘big prize’at the location of the last clue or just bring it out as they open the envelope. Don’t hide the first clue asthis is the one you will give to your hunters. When it’s time for the hunt:1. Gather your hunters together and read them out the poem explaining where the clues are.(Older hunters may read it for themselves).2. Support them as they work through the trail, engage in the hunt with them and make it a realevent for everyone.Gameplay for groups: Make it a rule that everyone must be involved and everything must be shared it’s important for it to not be competitive, everyone participates and everyone benefits.Clue answers:1. Hall/Porch2. Shoe3. Sink4. Washing machine5. Letter box6. Living room7. Pyjama draw8. Fridge9. Bathroom sink10. Dining table11. Window12. Bed (end point)
