Parish News & NotesFr. Bill’s corner of the world Office StaffThere is no doubt about it. Spring is in the air. The trees nowhave that beautiful shading of green, as the leaves begin theirgrowth. And, of course, there is big farm machinery everywhere,in the fields and on the roads, slowing all of us down, and that isnot necessarily a bad thing. Spring is in the air.Pastor: Fr. Bill J. Rooney, OFMParish Secretary: Lora RepkingPastoral Council: John Grunloh, Monica Emmerich, BarbHutmacher, Justin Funneman, Sandy Meinhart, Brian Slifer, CindyZumbahlen, Tim Jansen, Keith ProbstFinance Council: Bob Niemerg, Bryant Probst, Lee Beckman,Steve Hunzinger, Keith Kuhl, Steve MammoserCCW Officers: Janice Campton, Stephanie Niemerg, DeanaGoeckner, Debbie LidyCoordinator of Religious Education: Rosina EskerArea Directors: Karen Huber & Deb Niemerg (Bishop), JesseJansen (Grove)Youth Ministry: Andy and Maria Zumbahlen, Gary and BrendaKroeger, Bruce and Peggy ProbstMusic Ministry: Betty Goeckner (Bishop), Linda Probst ————————————The other day I was told that a Hummingbird had been spotted, soI got out my Hummingbird feeder, filled it with sugar-water, andhung it out in the area of my front stoop. Within 3 hours my firstHummingbird had arrived. He was obviously hungry and thirsty. He stayed at the feeder for quite some time. And these littlecritters are protective and aggressive, that is, food aggressive, when it comes to what they think is their personal feeder. Theycan really get into a squabble with other Hummingbirds whocome to the feeder. I enjoy watching these tiny birds who havethe ability to hover, like a helicopter. But not every little critter is enjoyed and welcomed with theirown personal feeders. Last week Dr. Mary Niemerg got into hercar and got the surprise of her life when a tail appeared near herfeet below the dash board. Dr. Mary expeditiously exited the carin a most unusual way. Her Dad, Bob Niemerg, came out toinspect the car, and upon popping the bonnet of the car, 2squirrels popped out, 1 running for the nearest tree, the othertaking refuge in the garage, where it was not wanted anymorethan in the car. These critters had chewed on wires and had builta large nest in the engine of the car, even using some of thebonnet’s insulation for their nest. While I was washing somedishes, I saw Bob Niemerg and Roger and Alan Waldhoff lookingup at the trees and aiming with what appeared to be a gun. I hadto go over and see for myself what was happening. And while Iwas there, we discovered that at least 1 more squirrel was hidingin the area of the engine, and he was not happy with our bangingon the car. So, while we welcome and even feed some of thecritters who come to our houses, we don’t welcome and feedthem in our cars. Spring is in the air.ndLast Sunday we welcomed 28 of our 2 graders in PSR to theTable of the Lord with their First Communion at the 8 AM Massin Bishop Creek and the 10 AM Mass in Island Grove. It was aday filled with anticipation and excitement for our FirstCommunicants. Congratulations! And this evening we willformally close PSR for this year with the investiture of our FirstCommunicants with the Scapular and the Blessing of Seeds.Sacramental Celebra onsSacrament of Reconcilia onTuesday, 7:15 am (B)Thursday, a er 7:30 am Mass (G)Saturday, 5:00 pm (B)Sunday, a er 10:00 am Mass (G)Sacrament of MatrimonyArrangements must be made a minimum of 6 months in advancewith the Pastor.
