Subject pronouns often replace proper nouns, for instance, I couldreplace John with he in English. He would be the subject pronoun in the sentence. Here are the subject pronouns in Spanish. (More on that in the future.) Spanish has two form of the subject pronoun you – tú and Usted. A Spanishspeaker will generally refer to a friend or family member as tú. Tú is an informalform of you and indicates familiarity with a person. Usted is used with someoneyou do not know well or who you want to show respect to, for instance, yourboss, the principal, a police officer, or a doctor. Spanish has subject pronouns that roughly translate to you guys. In mostSpanish-speaking countries the subject pronoun for you guys is Ustedes. In Spain,vosotros is the pronoun used when talking to friends or family, Ustedes is usedwhen talking to a group of people you do not know well. Vosotros is only used inSpain.
