I want to thank all of you foryour support, nudges, and thoughtprovoking comments. I wish Jason all theluck in the world I know he will be anexemplary President. I also want to thankthe Officers and Board of Directors for theirhard work and unfailing dedication to theBreed. I will miss working with you butknow you will continue to make greataccomplishments. The next to last thankyou for today is to Gary Romerosa, our hardworking Recording Secretary. Gary hasdecided to reclaim his life after the 2017National and step down as RecordingSecretary. Gary, I know I speak for the fullBoard when I say we appreciate your hardwork. I know you will fill your time showingthat beautiful ‘Emoji’ and supporting theGDCA in other ways. Once again, the GDCAis fortunate in that one of our members hasstepped forward and volunteered to takeontheRecordingSecretary’sresponsibilities. Thank you KathleenFennell for being willing to take on thisimportant role.We have had a busy 4 years on the Board,and I’d like to mention some of theaccomplishments: Board members will annually signand agree to abide by a Code ofConduct Revisions were made to theBreedersEducationprogramoffered at the National Revisions were made to the JudgesEducation program offered at theNational and other workshops Reviewed trophy expenses andmade changes to reduce the costsGDCA Created a Facebook page for theGDCAUpdated the Breed Mentor programUpdated the Breeder Code of Ethicsand the procedure for inclusion onthe websiteStreamlined the process for rescueand education grants as well asscholarship applications. This is ofgreatest importance to the rescuecommunity as they no longer haveto wait for quarterly Boardmeetings to have their grantsapproved. Their grants now godirectly to the Trust with the Boardhaving a 7 day comment period.One of our Board memberssuggested, and we created aMembership Health and WelfareCommittee, whose function is tokeep the membership aware of lifeevents affecting our members.Transferred 25, 000 to theCharitable Trust earmarked forsamplecollectionforthemegaesophagus studyRevised the Top 20 programApproved changes to the GDCABylaws for vote by the membershipRevisions to the Official Standardfor vote by the membershipDonated 1,000 to the AKC HumaneFund to support Domestic ViolenceSheltersApproved 10,000 to Fund CHFEpilepsy studyOur membership is fortunate to have a hardworking and dedicated group on the Boardand Committees. I am proud to haveworked with all and the accomplishmentsof the group.Page 1
