THE CLEMENS FAMILYIn this volume upwards of one hundred differentClemens family lines are represented, includingthose whose forefathers emigrated from Germany, Holland, England, Wales and Ireland. Nocomplete genealogy of any one particular Clemensline has thus far been printed, and I doubt if anysuch work has ever been compiled in manuscript.This Chronology therefore will prove to be thebasis for such genealogies of the Clemens familywhich may be compiled in future years by thegenerations still to come.All variations of spelling,otherthantheClement family, have been included, such asClemens, Clemmens, demons, Clemmons, Clemins, Clemmins, Clemans, Clemmans, Clemence,Clemense and Clemenz. The name Clement is adistinct one and has no connection with names"fwithout theAs dates are the foundation for all genealogicalrecords, the compiler has purposely omitted alarge amount of available material to which wereattached neither the year, month, nor day. Thefact that John married Mary, or that William wasborn, with no date accompanying the information,makes the record unreliable and incomplete.Hence the omission of many family records, furnished by numerous members of the Clemens race.These corrected omissions and new data will beinserted in future and enlarged editions of thiswork.
