The ILM Level 5 Certificate in Coaching and Mentoring is registeredon Ofqual’s Regulated Qualifications Framework. There are three units of study:1. Understanding the Skills, Principles and Practice of Effective Coaching and Mentoringwithin an Organisational Context (one written assignment)2. Undertaking Effective Coaching or Mentoring within an Organisational Context (18 hoursfor the certificate or 57 hours for the Diploma) – submission of a detailed coaching diary3. Reviewing Own Ability as a Coach or Mentor within an Organisational Context (onewritten assignment)Enrolment and paymentAre there any entry requirements? There are no formal entry requirements, although participants musthave access to workplace coachees to complete the practical coaching work. The course is a degreelevel qualification and includes independent research, reflection and preparation of three assignments. Onaverage, students complete the course in 12 months. You set the pace. Some take less time, some takemore, depending on work commitments. Work at a pace that suits your lifestyle.What are the payment options? You have the option to pay the full fee in advance or set up a paymentplan. This qualification is available using the MOD’s Enhanced Learning Credits (ELCAS number 7065).

How is the training structured?In order to achieve the ILM Level 5 qualification, you will need to attend 4 workshop training days and completethree written assignments. You will carry out 18 hours of coaching in your own time and record your learning ina reflective coaching diary. The workshops are introduced early on in the programme so that you have all thetheoretical knowledge and practical skills needed. You can then set your own pace for completion of thepractical coaching sessions. Your personal tutor will be there to guide and support you every step of the way. Ifyou are already a practicing coach, you may not need to attend the training and can complete via distancelearning only.Enrolment and payment of qualification fee – start any timeEnrolmentOn line access to a wealth of ILM and i2l learning resources.Books and coaching cards will be sent to you.Your personal tutor will contact you and give youeverything you need to get started. Set short and long terms goalsfor your learning and discuss timescales with your tutor.StartAssignment 1WorkshopsBegin preparation for the first theoretical assignment as soon asyou are ready. The first assignment title is “Understanding theSkills, Principles and Practice of Effective Coaching and Mentoringwithin an Organisational Context”. If you prefer to wait until afterthe first training modules, that will be fine – your tutor will discussthis with you after enrolment and as part of the induction process.A practical and engaging virtual workshops, preparing you for realcoaching sessions. Includes contracting, record keeping and aselection of coaching models, tools and techniques. Watchrecorded content and join live webinars.All face to face workshops are delayed due to COVID-19 andinstead, we will offer a selection of virtual workshops, e-learningmodules and group or individual tutorials.Continue writing your first assignment. You will set your owndeadlines. Join a co-coaching group when you are ready.Tasks tocompleteStart your coaching diary (the second assignment). Begin yourcoaching at a pace that suits your level of confidence and skills.Coaching supervision is available if you need it, plus plenty ofopportunity for Q&A with your peers on the course and your tutor.

Developgreater flexibility in your approach to coaching, with plenty ofopportunity for Q&A, advice and sharing of experiences.All workshops are delayed due to COVID-19 and instead, we willoffer a selection of virtual workshops, e-learning modules andgroup or individual tutorials.Continue writing your first assignment at your own pace.Tasks tocompleteWorkshopsBuild your coaching hours and put into practice your learning fromthe learning modules and virtual workshops. You will be given adetailed template to help you with your coaching diary andlearning reflections. Coaching supervision available as required.Find out more about the role of neuroscience in coaching and addto your coaching toolkit. Build your confidence with moreadvanced approaches by practising with like- minded people in asupportive learning environment.
