Students who experience extenuatingcircumstances that are beyond their control and who are unable to attend a first class meeting must notify theinstructor or the department prior to the first class meeting to request waiver of the first class attendancerequirement. Although Instructors are authorized to affect the drop, students are fundamentally responsiblefor knowing their registration status, and the student must insure that his/her registration status reflects thedrop by the end of the drop/add period.Graduate AssistantshipsGraduate assistants may perform research, teaching functions, assist in the production of seminars andworkshops, or other work related to their specific disciplines. Graduate assistants are paid a biweekly stipendand may qualify to receive in-state tuition waivers. Assistantships are awarded on a competitive basis.
