Emphasis is placed on communication skills which is the focus of the course.Time Allotment, Sequencing and Enrollment3 college semester unitsOn-Campus Lab/Clinical: 20.25 hours per week for 8 weeks: total of 162 hoursIn the third semester this course is offered every eight weeks to the maximum number ofstudents permitted. Apply in the clinical setting Orem’s self care theory and the nursing process as a baselinefor planning nursing care of the mentally ill and/or medical/surgical client.2. Utilize the mental health concepts and the mental health/mental illness continuum as ithas an impact on the client’s care.3. Analyze the coping patterns and nursing interventions needed to promote normalcy foryour clients.4. Compare adaptive and maladaptive behavior associated with mental illness.5.
