Accelerated Data EfficiencyThe data problem is not new, there is not only a datagrowth issue but perhaps more important, a performance/IO issue. The one-to-one relationship between a physicalserver and storage shifts to a many-to-one relationshipbetween virtual machines and a single storage controller.Multiplexing the different IO streams of multiple workloads by the hypervisor creates random IO streams thatmust compete for resources. This increases IOPS requiredto service the virtual workloads. To address performanceissues, more disk spindles can be added. However, this alsoincreases capacity. This over-provisioning leads to a highercost per gigabyte of storage allocated to every virtualmachine.SimpliVity and Intel address the data problem with Accelerated Data Efficiency.
