This is why even though all of us have the ability to change ourlives, most of us don't, and we are left with a status quo, mundane existence. You then need to decide for yourself if you can commit to this way of living andthinking about the world. You can do the initial hard work and watch your life changedramatically, or you can decide that it's just not for you. It's completely your choice. Justknow that whatever you decide will also be the truth you live by and will completelydetermine your outcome. The level of intentionality you add to your day will determine if your day runs bydesign or on an auto-pilot default mode. Once you have mastered your mind, you can masteranything.Once you have mastered your mind, you can masteranything. There are some very specific things that you need to do to master your mind.REPORT 1: THE PATH OF MIND POWER2

DECIDEBefore you can begin to climb to new heights, you need to first figure out whereyou are starting. What is your baseline and how do you move from where you are towhere you want to go?Typically, the way most people try and figure out their starting point is bycomparing themselves to other people. You might start looking at your friends or familymembers, and in your mind, you determine if you are better or worse in certaincategories than they are. You may start to make judgements such as, “My house isbigger than their house is,” and you give yourself a little pat on the back. Then you lookat someone else and think, “Geez, look at how much healthier they are then I am”, andyou make a mental note that you should release some weight.Another thing that people like to compare are their “stories”. The way this worksis you might look at one of your friends and think, “Wow they are so much further aheadthan me with their wealth,” and you might feel a bit down about that. So, then your nextthought is, “yeah but I had to deal with this challenge, and a broken home, and analcoholic father, and economic discrimination, [etc.],” and then suddenly you don't feelso badly that they are more successful than you are. In this scenario you haveessentially given yourself permission to be less successful than your friend, or even fail, because of the story you told yourself about your misfortune. Both these scenarios are the completely wrong way to determine your startingpoint because they involve comparing yourself to other people. The fact of the matter is,it is completely irrelevant where anyone else is at on their success journey. The onlything that matters is that you decide to start and are committed to forward motion.Yes, your starting point begins with a simple decision. Are you going to see achallenge or an opportunity? The world sees a huge mountain and walks away in theother direction. But I believe: you can see the mountain as an opportunity to grow andbecome stronger. You see beyond the challenge and your mind's eye can visualize theamazing view that awaits you at the top of the steep climb.Your starting point begins with a simple decision. Areyou going to see a challenge or an opportunity? What this means is that everything that happened yesterday doesn't matter. Itdoesn't matter what challenges you are starting with because those challenges are aresult of decisions you made in your past. All that matters is today and the choices youdecide to make today. Now, of course the decisions that you made in the past may still be affecting yourpresent circumstances. If you made some bad financial investments in your past, youstill need to pay off your debt. The difference is you don't look at the debt as a handicapfrom your past. You acknowledge it as part of the “opportunity” of the present.REPORT 1: THE PATH OF MIND POWER3

The goal is not to analyze the situation as better than it is; it is important to berealistic. However, human nature tends to look at things as being worse than they reallyare. We take the challenge of “debt”, and we turn it into an insurmountable andimmovable mountain that we tell all kinds of emotional stories about. We make excusesand play the blame game. Instead of simply being “debt” it becomes this huge hairball ofobstacles, stress, and emotional declarations of, “I'm completely stuck until this debt isgone and it's all (somebody else's) fault!”The problem with believing that about your debt is, what you believe will becomeyour reality and will shape every decision you make. When you add emotion to yourstress, the negativity will compound even further because then you start to makeemotional decisions around your debt. The goal when looking at your starting point is to see it as it really is, not withrose-colored glasses and not with a doom and gloom filter. When you look at yoursituation objectively you will make better decisions.ACTYou can't make a life changing decision and then say, “I'll start tomorrow,” and gograb a beer and sit on the couch. The reason immediate action is so important is because you need to trainyourself that your mind is in control. (Otherwise, your habits and patterns and limitingbeliefs will keep you stalled where you are.)You have less than five seconds to act before your unconscious mind will comein with all kinds of delays, excuses, and reasons why you should slow down orapproach things a bit differently. FIVE SECONDS! When your alarm goes off in themorning so that you have time for your morning workout, you have FIVE SECONDS tojump out of bed and get your shoes on before that unconscious comfort-zone-lovingbrain will start reminding you that you never get up at this time of day. Because thisaction is outside of what it knows and understands to be normal, it will remind you thatsleeping is what you should be doing at 5:00 a.m. Working out at 5:00 a.m. threatenswhat it has learned and knows to be safe and predictable so it will protest. When you are presented with an opportunity to learn from the best to growyourself and your personal life, you have FIVE SECONDS before your mind will tell youthat you don't have time to listen to the expert. It might even tell you that you deserve togo watch TV and that you can learn “tomorrow.” These unconscious patterns andconditioning will protest every time you switch things up, even when what you are tryingto do will make you healthier, happier, or more successful. You only have 5 seconds to act after a decision beforeyour mind will try to convince you otherwise.REPORT 1: THE PATH OF MIND POWER4

Procrastination is not a part of a routine of a successful person. I've been arounda lot of successful people, and I've never met someone who procrastinates. Successfulpeople decide and then immediately act. They get started and stay started. They trainthemselves to act before their brain steps in with its alternate facts and stories that willkeep them stuck.RESOLVEOn every step of the journey, you'll encounter challenges, and you must mentallyresolve to transform them into opportunities. It is not enough to climb until you hit abigger obstacle than you were anticipating and then give up. The decision to keepclimbing and taking immediate action must continue throughout the duration of thejourney. When you first begin your journey up a mountain, you will not be acclimatized tothe thinner air or rough terrain that you will inevitably come across. It takes time to buildup the muscles and the extra lung capacity that it takes to live at these higher levels. The only way you will continue to build this muscle is through steadfast resolve andcontinued forward movement. You must dig deep and do what needs to be done. You must do the difficultconditioning so that the rest of their climb becomes easier. Remember that any obstacleyou face is simply your training ground. You are here to learn, and your biggestobstacles will be your biggest teachers. The muscles of resolve and resiliency aregrowing and will allow you to live at ease at heights that ordinary people will neverreach. The battleground is in the mind. Yes, the outside circumstances may bechallenging or not what you expected, but your perspective and ability to stay focusedon the next thing is what will get you through the rough patches where most would giveup.
