The Social Work Program at Messiah College aimsto prepare students for effective social work practice with a commitment to Christian values as well as thevalues of the profession.AccreditationIn the spring of 2007, the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) granted full, independentaccreditation to the Social Work program at Messiah. Prior to that date, the program was accredited incollaboration with Temple University. Graduates of the Messiah College Social Work Program are eligibleto apply for advanced standing in many graduate schools of social work in the United States. Advancedstanding status reduces the number of credits required to obtain a Master’s in Social Work degree. Socialwork graduates are often eligible for licensing or certification in states which license bachelor’s level socialworkers.Definition of Generalist PracticeThe Messiah College Social Work Program incorporates the use of a generalist perspective to assiststudents in developing a model of practice.
