Operating since March 2010 as a ministryof Broadway, Youth Lounge has grown andadapted to meet the needs of youth participantswho identify primarily as LGBTQ& Allies. Over 90percent of the young people are people of color; atleast half are experiencing home instability, homeinsecurity, or are surviving on the street. Youth10Lounge offers a home-cooked meal, a creativewriting and artistic center, games, dressing room(gently used clothing), beauty parlor (non-invasivemanicures & pedicures), conversation, andfriendship.Youth Lounge 101, born out of the relationshipsestablished at YL, offers a mentoring componentfor one-one focus on youth-driven and youthidentified needs (e.g., career counseling, earning aGED, college & scholarship applications, collegewriting, employment assistance, etc.).
