There is an emergency action to keep amberjack closed until September giving us a two month fall amberjack season of September and October. What originally looked like a complete wash out and rough week ended not as bad asforecasted. Thursday, Friday and Saturday saw scattered rains but not all day rains. Seas were plenty fishable. We are about at the half way point of snapper season so you have about 3 weeks left to get after them. The same holds true for tarpon. They surely were at peak this past week. Monday and Tuesday were good days at the pier. Wednesdayand Thursday were great days. Friday was beyond insane. Where has the year gone? This is the last week in June already and the 4th of July is only a week away! On the bright side fishing is very good. Happy Fathers’ Day Weekend! This week the report is dedicated to the fathers, grandfathers, and the children that they are passingknowledge to as well as experiences of a lifetime on the water! Quite possibly one of the best wahoo weeks ever! Fishing is so good, and to add to everything already biting, red snapper opens for everyone Friday. Back to normal better weather this week and it showed in the catches. The last fishing report was pretty sad but we have plenty totalk about this week. Some highlights to take note of. What a week we had, unfortunately it wasn’t the best of weeks for fishing. We had three different weather systems, one came through Monday, another Wednesday, and another Thursday. I hope everyone was able to get out and take advantage of the weather we had Sunday – Thursdayas we saw some of the best conditions of the year and some hot, hot, hot Fishing! Blood Moon, Lunar Eclipse and Friday the 13th all in 3 days. This week gave us a little of everything, perfect days, rough and windy days, and even hail. I had a good video of the hail here at the shop on Friday that made it to the Fox10 news that.AMBERJACK SEASON OPENS TODAY!!!! Surely everyone saw the crew of the No Name boat caught an 832 bluefin tuna last Sunday. Could have been a new Florida record but because multiple anglers fought the fish and they harpooned it. This was the best week of cobia fishing in quite a number of years. The Okaloosa pier caught their first, oneof the local boats was 6 for 13, and the average boats saw a couple and caught 1 or 2. As mentioned, we have the spring pier tournament going on. The kings bit early in the week on Rapala Xraps, Shimano Colt Snipper lures, spoons, and cigar minnows. What happening? The Okaloosa Island Pier is having their annual spring tournament on the pier.There are cash rewards based on. We had a few perfect days, some rain, some wind, big seas warm and cool temps all in the same week. The pompano have officially invaded the beaches. Good news is we had some good days early in the week and next week looks better with temos back in the 70’s.
