I think you’ll findyour Vedic Horoscope Analysis extremely stimulating and informative. It should feel like“seeing” yourself through a new “lens” -- perhaps for the first time.I’m fortunate to be able to provide this astrological perspective through the efforts ofDas Goravani, author of the Vedic Astrology computer program “Goravani Jyotish”. Asyou read his introduction and explanation of “Jyotish” following this foreword, I thinkyou’ll understand why I chose Das’s program from among those on the market. He hasclearly created it with love and reverence for the divine -- a love and reverence which Ishare.Granted, some of the verses drawn from ancient texts are archaic, (but interesting!).Please note that some of the language sounds “dire” or at the least, very dramatic! Ithink you have to temper these ancient texts with your own awareness. Also, anyastrology reading has what appear to be contradictions or inconsistencies. That’sbecause there are different aspects in our charts, that mirror the different parts of ourpsychological makeup, which are not always consistent. IntroductionBy Das GoravaniVedic Astrology is called “Jyotish” which is a Sanskrit word. “Jyoti” means “light” and“Ish” is short for “Ishwar”, which means “God”. So “Jyoti-Ishwar” or the “Light of God” ispronounced “Jyotish” (ja-yo-teesh).Using “Jyotish”, or Vedic Astrology, means to recognize that God does His or Her workof controlling the upbringing of all the children of the Universe through a complexinteractive system of energy rays, or “light”. The focal points of this energy are thespheres we know as planets, which the Vedic Books of Knowledge teach us areactually personal “Demi-Gods”. It is through these focal points, in their ever-changingdance around our solar system, that we can read the unfoldment of the plan of God forus. What is planned for us as individuals is frozen in time and in our Birthcharts, whichare simply maps of the heavenly bodies at the moment of our birth in relation to ourplace of birth.The Sages of ancient India, receiving this science from God, passed it down throughgenerations of their disciples. Eventually, around 5,000 years ago, they began to puttheir science into written form and it has been recorded and passed on that way eversince. Now, in modern times, we have the advantage of the accuracy of astronomy andcomputers. I have written a very astronomically precise chart-calculating softwareprogram. Into the program I have entered many readings from classic and modernastrological scholars describing the “meanings” of the planetary positions in thebirthchart. In your hands you now hold your readings--each of the specific placementsof the planets in your birthchart.As you examine the readings given for your birthchart, remember that they areunblended, and therefore may cancel each other out to some degree, and also balanceeach other out. For example, one paragraph may say that you have a strong positivequality, while another paragraph may assert that you have the strong opposite negativequality. Which is right? The truth lies in the middle; at some point in your life you will nodoubt experience one quality, and at other times you experience the other. There will bea blending of the two opposite energies throughout your life.There is a certain beauty in knowing that Divine Order has a plan for us, don’t youagree? We can, after surrendering to this fact, go through life, with all its ups anddowns, in a happy state of mind which the Hindus call detachment. What happens, inthe end, is not entirely up to us. We are players in an already written play, and wegenerally don’t know the script, but there is one, and it comes from a purely benevolentDivine Order. Our dreams, hopes and wishes are generally self-centered and based ona vision of ourselves as these bodies we temporarily inhabit. But this is not the vision ofDivine Order, which sees us instead as gradually evolving souls learning lessons ineach life, which are retained, though the material attainments of each life are not. Thepurpose of life is not necessarily to be happy! It is to learn our lessons well, and those,the Vedas say, are carried forward to our next destinations. Therefore, it is importantwhen approaching a comprehension of Vedic astrology, to understand that it is not ourservant, but rather, we are its servants.

I hope I’ve helped you understand how to begin analyzing your chart more fully becauseit’s my personal goal to spread these basic principles to as many people as possible. Itruly believe the end result will be an expansion of the overall enlightened state ofsociety.
