Marquis ClassicWOOD DESCRIPTION** RUSTIC WOODSRustic woods may contain natural sound defects and possess all inherent characteristics of thespecies. Minimal to no color or grain matching is done to preserve strong character. Some of thecharacteristics that may be represented are mineral streaks, pecks, burls, natural color variations, grain variations and naturally occurring tight, open and cracked knots. Open knots will bestructurally “sound” and will not be seen through. The amount, size and placement of naturalcharacteristics will vary, and the consistency (or lack of) is not considered cause forreplacement. Rustic woods may have less knots with more color variations and streaking; Paintsare not recommended as they may reduce the appearance of the rustic characteristics. Dark stains mayalso reduce the appearance of the rustic character. We do not guarantee thateach piece will have rustic characteristics;Due to the variations in wood, some panels, moldings, skins and other componets may be clear.** KNOTTY ALDERKnotty Alder is a soft wood, known for its even texture. Its color can range from light red to reddishbrown. Knotty Alder dents easily and having softwood and hardwood characteristics, will absorb excess stain creating dark areas but also absorb minimal stain creating light areas. This variance is not considered a defect. Knotty Alder is recommended when natural color andgrain variations are desired, or acceptable, such as when used with medium to dark stainedfinishes. General characteristics of Knotty Alder are: generally pale pinkish-brown to reddishpeach in color with a slight grain pattern.* RUSTIC BEECHRustic Beech will vary in color tones from light tan to reddish brown, creating some color variationwhen finished. Beech will also have some pin knots and sap streaks. Variations in color andgraining of Rustic Beech are commonplace and Marquis Cabinets will not be responsible for color orgrain variations between a sample block and the complete order.** RUSTIC BIRCHRustic Birch is a smooth, even grained hardwood that is predominantly off-white with some red andbrown variation giving it a calico appearance. Rustic Birch cabinets with a wiping stain will not beconsistent in color. The ends of the stiles and the cross grain profile in the raised panel will bemuch darker than the rest of the door. In addition, the face frame, doors, and drawer frontscan be different colors. This is not considered a defect but desired by those wanting a "rustic"look.** RUSTIC CHERRYRustic Cherry Hardwood will darken in a short period of time. When ordering your door, understandit will be lighter in color than a sample block. Depending on the age of this color block will determinehow much lighter. In addition, this sample does not display a true picture of the characteristics ofthe wood but only the basic color tone.
