Role DescriptionThe PCL Assistant for St. Isidore Parish & Youth Ministry position will beconsidered an employee of St. Isidore Parish and governed by the policies of thedual-campus, along with the policies of the Diocese of Evansville.The Assistant PCL works in collaboration with the Pastor and the ParishCatechetical Leader (PCL) in coordinating the parish catechetical programpromoting faith formation of all age levels, along with coordinating and facilitating adual-parish based ministry program for young people. This program should utilize acomprehensive approach to Catholic youth ministry involving the eight componentsof youth ministry: advocacy, catechesis, community life, evangelization, justice andservice, leadership development, pastoral care, prayer and worship. (Renewing theVision-National Conference of Catholic Bishops) The Assistant PCL will also serve onthe Religious Ed. Commission and Parish Council.III. Major Role ResponsibilitiesA. Coordinate and Organize the Youth Ministry

1. Youth Events dealing with the youth and formation of youth programs forSt. Isidore Parish2. Parish Youth Protection (Safe Environment) Coordinator of programs andbackground check requirements for the diocese3. Assist PCL with sacramental preparations & various duties if time allows.4. Loading website information for youth events, permission slips and othernecessary or optional information onto the site5. Assist PCL with Wednesday night classes that are held at both campusesthe last Wednesday in August until the third Wednesday in March (DuringWednesday classes the hours are 12:30pm to 8:30pm pm Wednesdays )6. Youth Group gathering/meeting twice a month at both locations(Wednesdays 5:30-7:00pm)7. Recruit & oversee sufficient training of those assisting in Youth Ministry8. Organize and assign help within the youth program9. Communicate with families of the students regarding programrequirements.B.Coordinate a Parish Youth Ministry Program1. Recruit, train, and supervise lay ministers in the Youth Ministry Program2. Empower young people to live as disciples of Jesus Christ in our worldtoday3. Draw young people to responsible participation in the life, mission, andwork of the Catholic faith community4. Foster the total personal and spiritual growth of our youth.5. Develop, coordinate, and publicize a youth calendar of events, programs,and services through the bulletin, newsletter(s), and all other forms ofcommunicationC.Administration1. Participates and works collaboratively as a member of the parish pastoralteam, including the attendance of scheduled parish staff meetings2. Work in collaboration with the Faith Formation Commission to establishand maintain a Youth Ministry budget, as well as identify budgetaryneeds and request funds for Religious Education and Youth Ministry3. Keep proper records and submission for youth events as NationalCatholic Youth Conference, Catholic Heart Work Camp, Source & Summit,Rock Your Faith, Teens Encounter Christ.

4. In collaboration with the Pastor, will maintain set office hours. Mon.,Tues, Thur. 8:30am till 4:00pm. Wednesdays 12:30pm till 8:30pm duringWednesday night classes.D. Set parish wide goals and objectives for pastoral youth ministryprograms and experiences with Faith Formation3. Maintain and initiate effective means of publicizing, promoting, andreporting programs for the youth of the parish to the pastor, pastoralstaff, parish community, and young people4. To be visible, available, and accessible to young people and their families5. To participate fully at Parish events, celebrations, and weekend MassesE. Continuing Education1. Attend Catechist workshops and continued education programs2. Encouraged to participate in annual Retreat and Spiritual Direction3. Participate in Youth Ministry workshops, gatherings, and in-serviceOpportunity that is directed by the Diocese Youth Ministry OfficeIV. Position Qualifications/RequirementsA. The PCL Assistant applicant is expected to possess the following qualities;1. A Bachelor Degree in Theology or Religious Education would bebeneficial, or its equivalent from an accredited institution in education.Parish Religious Education or Youth Ministry experience of 2 years wouldbe a plus. Would train for the position.2. Demonstrate the ability to work with others in a collaborative mannerand exhibit behavior and lifestyle values compatible with JudeoChristian teachings in general and Catholic beliefs, in particular.3. Shall abide by the laws of the Church and the State of Indiana, andparticipate in the Safe Environment Program of the Catholic Diocese ofEvansville4. A person of faith and prayer, actively participating in Roman Catholicworship and able to articulate that faith

Update website after meeting.Maria Goretti nominations from Youth Group Leaders, school, catechists, senior students. Paperwork and letters submitted to the Diocese at the end of January.Prepare for Youth Appeal Weekend the second weekend in February & August. Get speakers forthe Masses and work with them on their speeches. Help ushers and students at the Masses.Get next month’s youth events permission slips copied and passed out; also put on the Websiteand Facebook.Right to Life Pilgrimage Trip preparations. Ed. class. Finalize the youth kick- off event for August with promotions and communication. Safe Environment background checks and training for new Catechists for the start of the new schoolyear completed. This would include driving background checks and best practice papers signed byall that have completed backgrounds in the past. Get Youth Appeal ready for 2nd weekend in August. Have speakers in place for all Masses and offerhelp to practice speaking if they have not spoken before. Help Glenda to set up the building for classes with the appropriate number in the rooms at bothlocations. This would be for Release Time and Wednesday night classes.
