WEEKLY ACTIVITY THEMEB E L OW W I L L B E SOME E XAMP L ES OF ACT I V I T I ESI NVOLV I NG “STAR WAR S” T H E ME S .

TAGLIGHT-SABER STYLE!How to Play:Use Pool Noodles as a way to tag someonewith a light-saber. Have a light-saber “duel” bycounting 3 with the light-sabers touching inthe picture to the left. After counting to 3, tryto be the first one to tag the other opponent’sfoot (a game that is common in PE classes)Variation: playing a regular tag game with theperson who is “it” using the pool noodle(light-saber) to gently tag the other players.Adaptation Ideas: shortened pool noodles, or longer pool noodles; walk, hop, jump, etc tag; slowmotion; light-saber “training” and striking objects such as a ball off a tee with the pool noodle. For wheelchairs/low mobility: play seated or any movement is good, so consider just tapping thelight-sabers together to create noise and count or sing patty-cake

THE FORCE AWAKENS!(USE THE FORCE AND PIN THE TAIL ON THE DONKEY)How to Play:Use any cloth for a blindfold, put a drawing on the wall of ananimal with a tail (doesn’t have to be a donkey) and cut outsome tails with tape attached to it, spin the player around 3times, and try to see who comes closest!Variations: could also include pinning the ear, nose, arm, eye, foot, etc Adaptation Ideas: don’t spin and align the student with the drawing; help guide the student; don’t use a blindfold and let thestudent where the tail should go. Put a drawing of just the body and head of the animal, and allow student to go back andforth picking up a tail one time, a leg another time, then an ear, etc until the picture is complete.Low-mobility: Complete as a lap activity, or pointing to where the tail goes.

THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK!SOCK-BALL!How to Play:Anyone remember snow? And snow-balls? And snowball fights?Just like that, use socks to create a soft ball. Split the room into 2areas (divided by chairs, shoes, etc ), make sure the area is safe, andthrow socks at each other trying to get the other person. You canalso play outside (if it is cool enough).Variation: “Messy Room” or “Clean the Yard.” Instead of throwing thesocks at another person, each side starts with the same number ofsocks, throw as many as you can to the other side before time runsout, then see which room/yard is “more messy” and has the mostsocks in it.Adaptation Ideas: add exercises if you’re struck by socks; simply have the student throw balled-up socks at targets such as abook, bottle, person, etc. ; simply play catch; put all the socks on one side of the room and time how long it takes to get allthe socks to the other side of the room.Wheelchair/Low-mobility: help supply the student in the wheelchair with more socks to throw; for lower mobility, thestudent knocks the socks off the arm of the wheelchair into a laundry basket to help “clean the room”

RETURN OF THE JEDICOMPLETE ANOTHER JEDI TRAINING!ORClick Here for The Video Workout!Adaptation Ideas: We don’t’ expect students to do all the exercises correctly in the video; whenevernecessary, simplify and do less of each activity; model the exercise for the student; physically assist.Wheelchair/Low-mobility: focus on arm exercises and movements; If that is too difficult focus on anymovement, and add a Star Wars theme to it.
