Oklahoma City University, Kramer School of Nursing, Advanced Practice RegisteredNursing Program, Oklahoma CityInterim Dean: Gina Crawford, DNP, FNP-C, CNEFollow-Up Survey Visit Recommendations:ACENACEN Accreditation focused visit March 2019: Affirm continuing accreditation, including theimplementation of new program options, as the program is in compliance with all AccreditationStandards and Criteria.Program Update: The BSN-DNP, family nurse practitioner track graduated 14 students this year and theadult gerontology acute care track graduated three students. The AGACNP track's firstcohort of post master certificate students completed the accelerated track in December,2020. The first cohort of BSN-DNP, psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner studentswere admitted fall 2020 and the first cohort of post master certificate students for thattrack were admitted summer 2021. COVID-19 continues to bring challenges regarding clinical rotations. Despite thosechallenges, the AGACNP post master certificate students enrolled in the acceleratedoption completed on time. The BSN-DNP students were also able to graduate on time.BSN-DNP students set to graduate next year have been working to make up clinical timefor women's health and pediatric hours as many of those rotations were interrupted lastyear. The addition of the PMHNP track has kept us busy identifying appropriate clinical sites. The implementation of a new track during a pandemic has posed unique challenges. Mostnotably is the reluctance of clinical sites to welcome visitors (faculty, clinical liaison)when they would have otherwise. Despite these challenges, we continue to workdiligently to create community partnerships that will be mutually beneficial.Other Information:NoneUniversity of Oklahoma, Advanced Practice Registered Nursing Program, Oklahoma CityDean: Julie HoffFollow-Up Survey Visit Recommendations:Program Update:Other Information:Pg. 3

Oklahoma Board of Nursing2 North /LQFROQ Blvd. Suite Oklahoma City OK 7310 (405) 962-1800Baccalaureate Degree Nursing Education ProgramsFY 2021 Annual Report SummariesEast Central University, Baccalaureate Degree Nursing Program, Ada, DurantDirector: Darcy Duncan, DNP, RNFollow-Up Survey Visit Recommendations:ACEN ACEN recommendations for standards 2 and 6 were met and reported in the 2016-2017OBN Annual Report with the exception of criterion 6.2: The program demonstratesevidence of graduates’ achievement on the licensure examination: For 2017, the SON was compliant with this standard with a first-time pass rate(composite) of 88.04%. For 2018, we remained in compliance though the compositedropped, with a rate of 81.01%. For the 2019 and 2020 test cycles, improvement wasshown with a composite pass rate of 95.71% (2019), and 94.29% (2020). We arecontinuing steady improvement as our graduates test this year, with a current compositeof 94.23%. As of 07.30.2021, per campus pass rates were as follows: (data based upSON records and the current OBN First-Time Pass Rate table).CampusAdaArdmoreDurant2017 PassRate:95.45%77.78%83.33%2018 PassRate:79.07%70.00%84.62%2019 PassRate:92.50%100.00%100.00%2020 Pass Rate:2021 Pass rogram Update: While we were able to return to campus beginning the Fall 2020 semester, there weremany changes and challenges to be faced. The University required that all classes betaught in a hybrid/blended methodology, requiring at least 15% decreased seat time, withsocial distancing in the classroom, labs, offices, and all other public spaces. While othercourses were able to allow for their classes to be split into sections and make this work, for nursing, other solutions needed to be found. With our classrooms not being largeenough to hold the volume with social distancing, we became creative and looked forspace that could. We moved our classes into a theatre that with some smallimprovements (lighting), and the purchase of some additional equipment using COVIDfunding, allowed for our classes to remain together for lecture instead of being split up.This area and equipment can also be used in the future for other activities and simulation. To ensure that our students were able to get the information they needed to be successful, many of our instructors continued with the flipped classroom, recorded lecture, andpower point ideas that they had started using in the Spring 2020 semester when we had toPg. 10

go completely online due to campus closure. Many held online office and study hoursoutside of classroom time to help students with questions and clarification. Individualskills lab times were held for students who felt they needed to practice, or that were notcomfortable and wanted to work with someone. To also help keep our full lab groups together, and help decrease instructor workload andadjunct cost, we again looked for space that we could acquire for additional labs. We hadreceived grant funding to allow for the purchase of new hospital beds and manikins, andafter finding space, we were able to create these lab spaces on both campuses. Our students participated in COVID-19 vaccine clinics in partnership with the OklahomaState Health Department and the Mercy Foundation, assisting in PODs at variouslocations, to include the Agri-Plex, Ada, OK; Pontotoc Health Department; and EastCentral University.COVID-19 continued to be a struggle for both students and instructors. Lecture wasprovided by synchronous Zoom links to those students who were quarantined or isolated(if the student was well enough), with clinical alternatives being used for those studentsas well as to ensure hours were met for those sites that were closed to attendance. Virtualsimulation, vSims by Swift River, was often used for those rotations that were meant tobe observation, while on-campus simulation labs were used for those such as med-surgrotations.We were awarded grants this year to purchase individual skills manikins. Thesemanikins will be given to each student, faculty, and adjunct at the beginning of the Fall2021 semester. The goal is that the student will be able to use these to help increase theircomfort level in the performance of the basic skills as they will have the ability topractice away from campus. One of our biggest accomplishments this academic year is the award of a reoccurringnursing fund from a donor that allows for the SoN to assist our students in ways that webelieve will help ensure they are successful. This includes, but is not limited to,purchasing books, scrubs, equipment (i.e. stethoscopes, etc.), assisting with personalexpenses, and purchasing equipment or supplies for the program to help withengagement, critical thinking, and clinical reasoning. We were able to pay for severalstudents NCLEX-RN fee this year, allowing them to receive their ATT earlier, and testearlier. We were able to offer this to all of the senior students, and pay for those thataccepted, and would not have had the funds to pay otherwise. We were also able to giveout eight scholarships using this fund, with every qualified applicant receiving ascholarship for the 2021-2022 academic year. Our other big accomplishment is the change in culture. Nursing faculty are workingtogether to identify those students who are at-risk earlier, and then identify why they areat risk. For example, we are finding that communication can sometimes create a barrierfor students’ success simply because the situation is never broached. The student knowsthe material, but may be having difficulty verbalizing or using the correct terminology,or, as we have found recently, their comfort level in their own ability to communicate is astruggle. We have made an increased effort to work one-on-one with these students, in asafe environment, where they can work on their confidence and communication abilities,as well as their nursing skills. This has allowed for several students to progress on withtheir cohort after demonstrating their success instead of failing a course. This culturechange is continuing to happen each day, and shows in not only our faculty, but in ourPg. 11

students.Other Information: Effective August 1, 2021, Dr. Amanda Hoffpauir will be stepping back into an AssistantProfessor position and will no longer be the Assistant Director. With the announcementof the 2023 merging of the off-site (satellite) campus at Durant following the completionof teaching out the remaining two cohorts, with no further new students being accepted tothat site, administration has chosen not to replace this position at this time. Dr. Patricia Massey resigned her full-time faculty position effective July 31, 2021. Shewill remain as an adjunct faculty member. Her replacement has been hired, with aneffective date of August 11, 2021.Langston University, Baccalaureate Degree Nursing Program, Langston, Ardmore, TulsaDean: Teressa Hunter, PhD, RNFollow-Up Survey Visit Recommendations:ACENThe following strategies are being done to address the default rate: All students have access to student training videos via Desire-to-Learn (D2L https://d2l.langston.edu/d2l/home). Langston University follows the Higher EducationReauthorization Act Title IV, and the default rate records are kept in the Office ofFinancial Aid. The students are informed of their responsibilities of loan repaymentthrough the Office of Financial Aid prior to funds being dispersed. The University, on behalf of the Financial Aid Office has entered into an agreement withStudent Connections as an outside agency to assist in to decreasing default rates(https://www.studentconnections.com/). Student Connections provides student loandefault prevention management software and services to colleges and universities. TheUniversity has entered the agreement in an effort to improve loan repaymentperformance, lower cohort default rates and increase your borrowers’ financial literacy. We are currently collecting evidence that there are sufficient data to inform program decisionmaking for each end-of-program student learning outcome (EOPSLO). Data is currently beingcollected based exams, clinical performance, care plans, written papers, course presentations, andNCLEX-RN scores. The EOPSLO’s are to: Provide patient-centered care which represents the patient’s preferences, values, andneeds within the context of their families, communities, and health care system. Use information management and patient care technology in the delivery of health care. Collaborate with other interprofessional health care team members for health promotionand disease and injury prevention across the lifespan. Utilize nursing judgment substantiated by current evidence in the holistic care of diverseindividuals within the context of their families, communities, and health care systems. Integrate ethical values and respect for all populations with a focus on minority groupswithin healthcare organizations and the community. Apply leadership and management of care concepts to provide high-quality nursing care. Demonstrate professional responsibility and accountability for nursing practice.Pg. 12

The nursing advisor on each campus maintains communication with each student to assist withenrollment, identifying various challenges, financial holds and refers students to financialservices such as the LU Financial Aid Office. They also provide scholarship information andassist with the application process.Program Update: The new LU School of Nursing curriculum was implemented fall of 2020. The newcurriculum addresses identified gaps in learning by 1) moving the first med-surg courseinto second-level or second semester vs. third, 2) Adding a course in third level, “ClinicalJudgement” to improve critical thinking skills, 3) adding an additional Pharm course sothat we have Pharm I and Pharm II to address QSEN Standards for safety. Additionally, clinical hours were added to the curriculum at the first level. Students identified withlearning gaps were offered additional learning opportunities. COVID presented a challenge but was addressed by identifying multiple availableclinical opportunities and effective alternative learning formats. Any gap in clinicalopportunities was optimized by the use of virtual clinical simulation.Other Information:Students needs were met in several ways including adjustments in instructor assignments.Marion University, Baccalaureate Degree Nursing Program, Oklahoma CityAcademic Director of Online Education: Michelle Garrison, DNP, RNC-OB, C-EFMFollow-Up Survey Visit Recommendations:CCNE: 12-22-20: CCNE notified Marian University that due to the COVID-19 pandemic, theBSN program’s accreditation, originally due to expire on 12-31-20, would be adjusted to12-31-21. 2- 8 to 2-10-21: CCNE conducted a 10-year virtual reaccreditation visit for Marian’sBSN program.
