BUSINESS IMPROVEMENT DISTRICT BOARDJanuary 28, 2021Present:Absent:Others:Ann Dieringer, Jody Frahman, Brian Hopperdietzel, Scott Koran, Al Nystrom, PatSchreiner, Quentin Rosandich (via Zoom)NoneAmy Krogman, attending via Zoom was City Administrator Steve Barg, Main StreetExecutive Director Kaelie Gomez, Wenzel Family Plaza Coordinator Nicki Ryner,Development Services Director Josh Miller, and members of the Main Street Board ofDirectorsNystrom called the meeting to order at 8:00 a.m. in the City Hall Council Chambers.BID21-02 Schreiner moved and Dieringer seconded the motion to approve the November 12, 2020minutes as presented. Motion carried.Citizens commentsNystrom invited comments from citizens, but no one spoke at this time.Wenzel Family Plaza updateRyner reported 2020 funding is being held over into 2021. The ice-skating rink is open and is being usedevery day. 2021 plans are moving forward as usual. Visit Marshfield is unable to donate their 50,000 for2021. This is due to the room tax being reduced because of COVID.Financial updateMain Street Marshfield anticipated ending the year with 30,000 - 35,000 in their account and they haveapproximately 36,000. The second round of PPP funding, 21,750, was received. They received 17,000the first round, but this time they applied on behalf of the Plaza to include Nicki’s payroll needs.Business callsGomez shared that the majority of business are just making it. The businesses with a loyal following aredoing well. This will be the critical time for closures. Three business have requested information on therecent Main Street America grant.Promotional events Small Business Saturday was celebrated with a “Downtown Experience Giveaway”. Fourbusinesses that could offer a unique Marshfield experience with dining (Nutz) entertainment(Escape Room) and winter fun (Uptown and the Plaza) coordinated. Home for the Holidays promotion. Every downtown retail, restaurant, and entertainment businessreceived a custom holiday-themed post to how their business goods or service could be taken home. 10 Days of Giveaways. 20 gift cards were purchased from 10 business. These businesses werefeatured with a photo and giveway on Facebook 10 days before Christmas. To enter people had tocomment on that post with what they would buy with their gift card. Virtual Awards Bash went well Cabin Fever – won’t have the large festival and run. Ticketed mini bonfires in the Plaza for privateparties. Promotion Committee will be posting videos of downtown businesses on social media. 23businesses are interested and the videos are turning out really good.

Director’s report No new vacancies or new businesses to report Two nominations for the Wisconsin Main Street Awards, the Shop Local Love Local marketingprogram and The Deming Building were submitted Annual report will be posted on their website soon Distributing new year business packets to all businesses and property owners in February Shop Local Love Local grant recipients are being tracked over the next few months. Looking tosee the impact of the program and if it’s something worth doing annually. Continue to share education opportunities as there are made available to our business network. Josh Kilty stepped away from the Board. Rob Warren, branch manager of State Bank Financialhas taken his place.City update Barg reported on the upcoming elections. There are no municipal seats on the primary. The Aprilelection has aldermanic district 2, 4, 6, 8, 10 on the ballot. All incumbents are running. There isa write-in for District 10 and Brian Varsho is running in District 4. Common Council authorized Barg to ask the Fire and Police Commission to consider possibletermination of the Police Chief. He expects to see the hearing scheduled within 30 – 40 days. COVID update – number of city employees quarantined because of COVID is lower. City Hall isclosed to citizens. Very few complaints have been received.Downtown Master Plan UpdateNo update was givenAnnounce next meeting date/timeNystrom announced that the Board’s next meeting will take place on Thursday, April 22, 2021Hopperdietzel moved and Schreiner seconded a motion to adjourn the meeting.
