Insights From The Board President2021 has been a continuedchallenge for everyone. We hadso hoped that COVID would bebehind us, yet this year it seemedto be so much worse. Businessesand people have been pushed totheir limits; however, the majorityhave risen, stood together, protected each other and madechoices that will benefit all of usmoving forward. The Community Foundation hasdone just that. We have had avery successful year because ofour willingness to change. TheFoundation now has 50,931,005in assets and was able to fund 1,160,980 in grants to deservingorganizations this past year and 254,208 in scholarships to assist115 of our young people in theirgoals to obtain higher education. As the pandemic continues, sodo we. The Foundation has beenpart of our community for twentyfive years. I look back at thehistory of The Foundation in totalamazement. Whitt Clement, TheFoundation’s “Founding Father,”and the others he worked withto begin The Foundation—whata vision they had regarding itsmission, and look where we aretoday! I sit back and reviewthe list of Past Presidents of TheFoundation, read about their workand the work of past Boards, andI am overcome with gratitude. How hard they worked for the pasttwenty-five years to accomplish allthat we have. What an honor andprivilege we have to continue thisimportant work.My goal this year is toencourage donations fromeveryone in our community. You do not have to be ableto contribute 10,000 to TheFoundation in order to make adifference. The Foundation seeksgifts of all sizes. Gifts of 25 or 50 will also be utilized for thebetterment of our community.Think about it— if everyone inour service area donated 50,it would result in The Foundationreceiving well over five milliondollars. Wouldn’t that be niceto add to The Foundation’s fundseach year! Consider how manymore organizations and studentswe would be able to help withthat money! I promise you,The Foundation will invest yourcontribution wisely and make ourcommunity a better place as aresult. As I close, I must take thisopportunity to thank andcongratulate our wonderful staffat The Foundation— Kathy Milam,Cullen Libby, and Krystal Davis. We are blessed to have eachof you on our team, and what aspectacular team we have! OurBoard of Directors—how blessedwe are to have such a dynamicteam. Each of us has a goal, andwe work every day towards thatgoal. I thank each of you for yourservice and dedication to such agreat organization.May God continue to bless TheFoundation and the importantwork we do together!Brian WilsоBrian WilsonPresident, Board of DirectorsFY 2021-2022
