Any pendingfinancial aid will be reviewed and disposition determined.PAGE 10, 2.5 PARTICIPATION AND SUBSTANTIVE INTERACTIONThe following is a revision to this section.GUIDELINES FOR SUBSTANTIVE INTERACTIONSubstantive interaction involves a sustained, interactivecommunication usually of three or more academically appropriateposts to the course Discussion Forum, consisting of one initialpost and two posts to fellow students and/or the course instructorof equally substantive value, corresponding to the requirementsprescribed in each course. It is a written answer to a discussionquestion/response that contains a central idea, independentresponse or personal opinion that is presented or communicatedin a meaningful way. The purpose of substantive interaction onthe Discussion Forum is to promote understanding of a topic andits relevant themes to all participants. The posts are, therefore, acollective conversation of linked words, phrases and ideas.Although using the American Psychological Association styleguide is not required for paraphrasing another’s work, properacknowledgment of the source is required; APA style is requiredfor direct quotes. The usual length of a post is 75 to 150 words.Word count requirements may be dependent on the topic,assignment instructions or level of the course. It is a student’sresponsibility to be familiar with the requirements of a course.Students are encouraged to begin substantively interacting withclassmates and/or the instructor using the Discussion Forumas soon as possible during each week of the term. Substantiveinteraction promotes a deeper understanding of the topics andthemes discussed in courses, which will enrich the educationalexperience. In addition, it opens up the lines of communication withfellow classmates and instructors.PAGE 17, 2.12 UNDERGRADUATE SAP ASSISTANCE PROGRAMThe following is a revision to this section.Grantham University undergraduate students who do not meetSAP requirements, including entering the SAP Warning phase,may be subject to the SAP Assistance Program. The SAPAssistance Program may include a requirement to take a reducedcourse load and/or student participation in other interventionsdesigned to improve student academic success. Interventions,particularly a reduced course load, may impact student fundingand program completion time. The length of time a student may berequired to remain in a reduced course load state is determined bythe Program Dean.At the next regular SAP check, SAP status will be re-evaluated.Students who meet SAP requirements will return to Good Standingand the SAP Assistance Program becomes voluntary for thestudent. Students who do not meet minimum SAP requirementswill be suspended and may file a SAP appeal. Students thatparticipated fully in all intervention measures should includethat information in their SAP appeal.
