The single most important factorwe consider in making an admission decision is the highschool record. We use the student’s GPA and rank in class asexpressions of high school performance. Other considerationcriteria include the types of courses taken and the student’spattern of performance throughout high school. The vastmajority of our applicants present transcripts with collegepreparatory, honors and AP coursework. Most also havecompetitive GPAs.Clemson Tigers come from a variety of backgrounds. Paths to ClemsonThere are several paths for admission to Clemsonapart from the traditional Fall admit acceptance.Please note that first-year Fall admits have untilMay 1 to choose whether or not to enroll andthat students admitted for Fall may opt-in to theSummer term if they choose.Incoming first-year students who apply byDecember 31 will receive an admission decision bymid-February. Incoming first-year students whoapply after December 31 may receive a decisionby mid-February or soon after, depending on theapplication submission date. Summer Admit — Clemson Summer StartSome students are admitted to the Summer termthrough the Summer Start program. Students canindicate their interest in being considered for theSummer Start program on the application.Summer Start allows students to enroll and makeprogress toward graduation by completing achallenging academic experience the summer beforetheir first year. Students enroll in two courses to equalsix credit hours of instruction. Courses are selectedbased on a variety of factors, including AP/IB/transfer/dual-enrollment credit, along with requirements fortheir major.Students receive mentoring and academic coachingthroughout the Summer term. They have until May 1to choose whether or not to enroll. Bridge to ClemsonStudents admitted to the Bridge to Clemson programwill begin their Clemson experience by taking coursesat Tri-County Technical College for their first year.Bridge students live on Clemson’s campus and haveaccess to Clemson activities and services. Bridgestudents are assured a seamless transition to Clemsonif academic expectations are met (completion of 30credit hours with a 2.5 GPA).Students have until May 1 to pay a deposit tocommit to the Bridge program. There is no separateapplication for the Bridge program.
