We confess that we have strayed from yourinvitation. We are misled by pride, we have not always been faithful in love and justice.Hear now our individual prayers of confession Have mercy on us, O God. And forgive us our sins. Amen.Time of Silence for Personal Prayers of ConfessionAssurance of PardonGloriaPrayer for Illumination1st Scripture ReadingDeuteronomy 30.11-19Surely, this commandment that I am commanding you today is not too hard for you, nor is it too faraway. It is not in heaven, that you should say, “Who will go up to heaven for us, and get it for us sothat we may hear it and observe it?” Neither is it beyond the sea, that you should say, “Who will crossto the other side of the sea for us, and get it for us so that we may hear it and observe it?” No, theword is very near to you; it is in your mouth and in your heart for you to observe.See, I have set before you today life and prosperity, death and adversity. If you obey thecommandments of the LORD your God that I am commanding you today, by loving the LORD yourGod, walking in his ways, and observing his commandments, decrees, and ordinances, then you shalllive and become numerous, and the LORD your God will bless you in the land that you are entering topossess. But if your heart turns away and you do not hear, but are led astray to bow down to othergods and serve them, I declare to you today that you shall perish; you shall not live long in the landthat you are crossing the Jordan to enter and possess. I call heaven and earth to witness against youtoday that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Choose life so that you and yourdescendants may live 1 Page

Home BulletinMay 2nd, 2021Fifth Sunday of Easter2nd Scripture ReadingJohn 5.2-13Now in Jerusalem by the Sheep Gate there is a pool, called in Hebrew Beth-Zatha (or Bethesda orBethsaida), which has five porticoes. In these lay many invalids—blind, lame, and paralyzed (waitingfor the stirring of the water; for an angel of the Lord went down at certain seasons into the pool, andstirred up the water; whoever stepped in first after the stirring of the water was made well fromwhatever disease that person had.). One man was there who had been ill for thirty-eight years. WhenJesus saw him lying there and knew that he had been there a long time, he said to him, “Do you wantto be made well?” The sick man answered him, “Sir, I have no one to put me into the pool when thewater is stirred up; and while I am making my way, someone else steps down ahead of me.” Jesus saidto him, “Stand up, take your mat and walk.” At once the man was made well, and he took up his matand began to walk. Now that day was a sabbath. So the Jews said to the man who had been cured, “It is the sabbath: it isnot lawful for you to carry your mat.” But he answered them, “The man who made me well said to me,‘Take up your mat and walk.’” They asked him, “Who is the man who said to you, ‘Take it up andwalk’?” Now the man who had been healed did not know who it was, for Jesus had disappeared in thecrowd that was there.“Listening”SermonRev.
