ASE Virtual EnrichmentDiscover fun, engaging and social experiencesThank you for your supportGrades K-5Nov. 2 – Dec. 17145 min. sessionsMonday – Thursday3:30pm-4:15 & 4:30-5:15PM

Dear MPS families,Since 1982, Milton Community Schools (MCS) has been providing MPS students K-5 with enrichment activities, physical movement, social skills development, and much more. In MCS, we firmly believe that out of school time programs are a key part of a student’s education and growth. For many years, MCS hasutilized MPS buildings to provide these services.Community Schools sadly recognizes that in reviewing the MPS proposed models for reopening under the current state guidelines, MCS is not able to offerprogramming physically in the school buildings at this time. With the hybrid model voted as the preferred choice, MPS had to restructure how and whenbuildings are properly sanitized, while accommodating teachers for planning time after school hours which will be challenging to do, if before and after schoolservices are provided in the buildings.Even though we are confident that we can make the necessary accommodations to maintain physical distancing, we are challenged to determine how we canoperate effectively while being financially responsible with the restrictions imposed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. One of our biggest limitations is the“cohorts” determined by the District, which will necessarily need to be disrupted in order to provide our services. These circumstances have prompted us to rethink how we can deliver the engaging programming, new learning opportunities and supportive relationshipsthat our families count on. MCS is launching a virtual enrichment program which will be offered to students K- 5th grades, with a variety of fun andinteractive 45 minute sessions taught by our After School Enrichment (ASE) Specialists. We understand that families may feel that their child is already exposed to extensive periods of screen time and that there are many free resources online, however our courses offer: Social Interaction: children will have the opportunity to meet and connect not only with kids from their classroom or school but with children fromthe four elementary schoolsInstructors; courses would be taught by the friendly ASE staff that most students know. In our experience, many students will sign up for differentcourses just to be with their favorite teacher. This gives them the opportunity to try new thingsQuality enrichment content; our current curricula can be modified and adapted for online classesFun experience; just like our in-person courses, students are able to learn skills while having funMaterials provided; (optional) If a course requires supplies, you may purchase them for an additional small fee. MCS will make the necessaryarrangements for families to safely pick up materials needed for their courses prior to the first classYour participation will keep us running! MCS is committed to prepare and modify our programs as needed to be ready when schools return fully inperson. We are very grateful for your support and patience during these challenging times. We miss seeing our participants and their families, and we cannot wait toreturn.Sincerely,Martha SandovalMilton Community Schools Director2
