How to sterilise1. Wash your hands.2. Separate the bottle and teat andwash all the feeding equipment,including dummies, in warmsoapy water.3. Use a bottlebrush toremove allleftover milk.4. Rinse well.Until Baby is one year old, you need to sterilise anybottles, teats and dummies to stop germs from makingBaby sick.1

ng bottles, teats and dummieSterilisisThere are three ways to sterilise: boiling, sterilisingchemicals, and steam sterilising.Boiling Place all the equipment in a large saucepan and coverwith tap water. Check there are no air bubbles inside bottles. Place the lid on the saucepan and bring to the boil.2

Boil for fiveminutes, makingsure that thepot doesn’t boildry and melt theequipment. Turn off the heatand allow to cool. Allow to air dry. Store the dry sterilised equipment in a clean, coveredcontainer in the fridge.3

ng bottles, teats and dummieSterilisisSterilising chemicals Follow the directions to make up the chemical solution. Make up a fresh solution every day. Make up the solution in a large, clean plastic container. Separate the equipment and place into the chemicalsolution squeezing the solution through the teats tomake sure they are not blocked.4

Check there areno air bubbles insidethe bottles. Completely coverthe equipment in thechemical solution.If they float to the top,place something heavy(like a plate) over them. Don’t put anythingmetal (knives, spoons)in the chemical solution. To use the equipment just remove it from the sterilisingsolution. You don’t need to rinse.If you are usinga steam steriliser,follow theinstructions thatcome with it.5
