KWelcome to the StudyKStudying God's Word is one of the most personal, yet important, skills we can sharpen in our journeyas a Christ follower. His Word is our instruction manual and our guide as we endeavor to seek Him withour whole heart. Through God's Word we learn more about Him and His Will for our lives. We learnhow to pray, to live, to love, and to grow ever closer to His heart as we let His Word become the seedsown in our own.Hebrews 4:12 tells us about the power of God's Word which alive within us, " For the Word that Godspeaks is alive and full of power, it is sharper than any two-edged sword, penetrating to the dividing lineof the breath of life(soul) and [the immortal] spirit, and of joints and marrow [of the deepest parts ofour nature], exposing and sifting and analyzing and judging the very thoughts and purpose of theheart."We are also told in Psalm 90:12, that we are to number our days and apply our hearts unto wisdomas we journey forward on our path.Because this is such a personal decision, to seek hard after the Lord, I want to encourage you toalways consider everything you read and hear and make sure it lines up with God's Word. Additionally, any thoughts I share in this study, are strictly my own . The suggestions below are ways that I havefound studying God's Word works for me. Please feel free to use any or none of the ideas I haveshared below, yet I encourage you to seek Him first, with your whole self as you purpose to love Godwith all of your spirit, soul and body.(Mark 12:30)May the peace of God sanctify you thoroughly and may you be found lacking no good thing as youkeep yourself fully His. kStudying God's Word with purposekThe Study Guide is set up with a suggested course of study. It will take us 8 weeks to get throughPsalm 119 together. However you choose to study, is completely up to you, but the guide is set up foryou to complete the study focusing on specific words and verses, along with journal entries.Because this Psalm is a prayer that was written over the course of a lifetime, hopefully, the studyskills also lead us to reflect back on God's Word with awe and wonder and soon we, too, will becomposing prayers of praise and adoration of our own.As we consider the key words, usually highlighted by the acrostic letter from the Hebrew Alphabetabove each stanza, let us think about the way we can apply the lesson the Psalmist is leading us to learnand make our own petitions based in His Word as a prayer of faith before the Lord.Timeline for the Psalm 119 Study:Saturday: Each Saturday I will share a post on a verse or series of verses from the following week'sstudy along with some information from my own study time.
