UF’s Office of Student Financial Aid and Scholarshipsis dedicated to helping students obtain financialresources so they can achieve their educational goals.Financial Aid at the University of FloridaThe Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is your first stepin the financial aid process. Completing the FAFSA allows you to beautomatically considered for federal, state and university need-basedfinancial aid programs. Although you must be accepted for enrollment at UFbefore you are considered for financial aid, you should apply for aid beforebeing admitted. Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) athttps://studentaid.gov or via the My Student Aid app. You can file a FAFSA as early as October 1, 2021, for the 2022-23 academic year. To receive the best financial aid offer, complete the FAFSA as early as possible. In order for the UF Office of Student Financial Aid and Scholarships (SFA) toconsider you for a financial aid offer, you must be a degree-seeking,admitted student.How Need is DeterminedThe financial information you and your family provide on your FAFSA is used todetermine your Expected Family Contribution (EFC) — how much you and yourfamily are expected to contribute toward your educational expenses. Onceyour EFC has been determined, SFA will calculate your financial need.Your Financial Aid OfferWhen UF receives your FAFSA information and you havebeen admitted to UF, the Office of Student Financial Aid andScholarships (SFA) will offer you an aid package based onyour eligibility. Students who complete a FAFSA and list UFas a “college of choice” are considered for all aid programsadministered by SFA. HOW TO APPLY FOR FINANCIAL AIDComplete the 2022-23 Free Application forFederal Student Aid (FAFSA) on or after October 1, 2021.Apply each year — financial aid is not renewed automatically. Most people finishfilling out the FAFSA in less than 30 minutes. List “University of Florida” and the UF Federal School Code (001535) as a school choicein the “School Selection” section. Sign your FAFSA electronically using yourFSA ID. Parents of dependent studentscan also sign electronically but mustrequest their own FSA ID. Use the IRS Data Retrieval Tool whenpossible to automatically import yourtax information into your FAFSA. The 2022-23 FAFSA will use 2020income and tax information forstudents and parents. After successfully submitting your FAFSA,print and keep the confirmation page. GrantsGrants are gift aid (no repayment required) awarded to students who showfinancial need. All you need to do to be considered for grants is tocomplete the FAFSA. Federal Pell GrantThe Federal Pell Grant is awarded toundergraduate students with exceptional financialneed. The Federal Pell Grant awards can rangefrom 692 to 6,895 for the 2022–23 award year. Federal SupplementalEducational Opportunity GrantThe Federal Supplemental Educational OpportunityGrant (FSEOG) is awarded to undergraduatestudents with exceptional financial need. Awardscan range from 100– 2,000. Florida Student Assistance GrantThe Florida Student Assistance Grant (FSAG)Program is a need-based grant program availableto degree-seeking, Florida resident, undergraduatestudents who demonstrate substantial financialneed. FSAG awards range from 200 to 2,610 peracademic year. Excellence GrantsExcellence Grants are meant to recognize ourfirst-time in college, high-achieving students. Weoffer this four-year grant as part of a no-loan aidpackage to students who meet eligibility criteria. UF Undergraduate GrantThe UF Undergraduate Grant is targeted tostudents with an Expected Family Contribution(EFC) of 7,500 or less. Award amounts are tieredbased on the student’s EFC. UF Welcome GrantThe UF Welcome Grant, typically from 500 1,000, is a one-time award, provided to incomingfirst-time in college students with an ExpectedFamily Contribution of 7,500 or less. The awardis paid in advance of the start of the term to assistthe student in covering expenses related to theirstart in college. UF Orange & Blue GrantThe UF Orange & Blue Grant is awarded to transferstudents with an Expected Family Contribution(EFC) of 7,500 or less. The award is tiered attwo levels depending on the student’s EFC and islimited to two years of undergraduate funding.In 2019, UF undergraduatesreceived over 300 millionin grants and scholarships.

ScholarshipsScholarships are financial aid awards designed to help students pay for anundergraduate degree. Like grants, scholarships do not have to be repaid. Florida Bright Futures ScholarshipThe Florida Bright Futures Scholarship Program,funded by the State of Florida Departmentof Education, provides scholarships based onhigh school academic achievement. For moreinformation, visit your high school guidanceoffice or call (888) 827-2004 prior to high alaidsg.org Benacquisto ScholarshipThe Benacquisto Scholarship is offered to in-stateresidents by the Florida Department of Educationand covers UF’s standard cost of attendance lessthe amount of the Bright Futures Scholarship andNational Merit Scholarship awards. UF offers a 500 annual National Merit Scholarship to finalistswho indicate UF as their first-choice institutionby the National Merit deadline. UF’s NationalMerit Scholarship qualifies as a college-sponsoredscholarship, meeting one of the BenacquistoScholarship requirements. The BenacquistoScholarship Program is a state-funded programthat is appropriated by the legislature each year. Machen Florida OpportunityScholars ProgramThe Machen Florida Opportunity Scholars Program(MFOS) provides financial resources and individualsupport with the primary goal of graduating firstgeneration, low-income undergraduate students.By addressing systemic barriers and challenges,this distinguished scholarship provides fundingup to the full cost of attendance for four years ofundergraduate study. In addition, MFOS scholarswill receive mentorship and comprehensivesupport programming to provide students with apositive and successful student experience at theUniversity of Florida. Subsidized Loans do not accrueinterest while you are in school for at least halftime or during deferment periods.
