One Guest Speaker and a New Council Fire AreaThis year, we will have our council fires in a new area. The new property north of thePow Wow Field. Everyone should attend the council fires. The dirty dishes can wait.Registration . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .Just like last year, registration will be at the entrance to the Pow Wow field adjacentto the Network Field HQ. Come straight to the Pow Wow field, start getting set upand then send your Sr. Cmdr with all of the completed paperwork. Upon registering,you will be given a wristband for the number of men and boys you have registered a wristband will be required for participation in all events. If your paperwork is not inorder, you will be sent back to your camp to get everything in order - there will NOTbe room at the registration tent for you to complete your paperwork, Rangers areReady.All registered men and boys will be given wristbands. Asteroid Challange . . . . . . . . . .The PlayingField:100 x 40 feet surrounded by orange snow fence. There will be 3or 4 blinds in the field where the team going after the flag canhide behind.Teams:There are 3 teams (six members per team) on the outside of thefence each with a 15 foot long box along the fence to throw from.Thus they can’t run up and down the entire outside area. Thereare targets on the inside of the fence in front of each of theoutside teams. There is one team inside the field of play. Twentyfour Rangers will be playing at a time.The Goal:Capture the flag asteroid style! The team inside starts at oneend making their way to the flag at the other end. Hiding behindthe blinds as they advance. The three teams outside are throwingtennis balls at the inside team, when an inside team member getshit that team member is out. The inside team throw tennis ballsat the targets in front of outside teams. When they hit a targetthat entire outside team is out The inside team keeps advancingto the flag taking out the outside teams by hitting the targets withthe tennis balls. The outside teams try to take out the insideteam by hitting them with the tennis balls. The game ends whenall of the inside team members are out OR the flag has beencaptured by the inside team.Rotation:Once the game is over the teams rotate. One team will leave anda new team joins in the fun.Gear:Baseball helmets and goggles (we provide). Ground Rules/Guidelines . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .!During fun times, jeans or Royal Ranger shorts and Royal Ranger T Shirt can be worn as wellas FCF theme outfit.!Rangers are always to be with a Commander, not by themselves. This means at all times, notjust when swimming. There are dangerous cliffs on the Heartland property and no one wants aboy to get injured.!Each boy must be a Discovery, Adventure or Expedition Ranger to attend District PowWow. NO Ranger Kids or GIRLS are allowed to attend this event - no exceptions.!FIREWOOD: You may NOW bring your own firewood into HCRC. Since youmay bring in your own firewood, neither HCRC nor the Pow Wow staff willbe providing firewood at this event. Downed wood or dead branches fromstanding trees at HCRC may still be used. No cutting of live trees ispermitted. Do NOT take cut wood from HCRC facilities or bins.!All boys and men are to attend Council Fire services (these are the focus of our Pow Wow) andthe Closing Ceremony on Sunday morning. We don’t want anyone to miss the opportunity tohear our speaker.!Water and Restroom facilities will be available. The Lodge will be off-limits to Rangers exceptwhere scheduled and those needing First Aid.!Ice will be available for sale at the Snack bar.!You will need to provide for all your meals for your Outpost.!Anyone walking in the creek is REQUIRED to wear shoes. The rocks are slippery and sharp walk with caution.!The Low Ropes Course is OFF LIMITS to ALL Rangers during Pow Wow. These events arebeing used by other groups during our Pow Wow and are required to have trained HCRC staffpresent to run the various events.!There will be a Snack Bar open Friday and Saturday at specified times.!A limited amount of designated parking will be provided in the Pow Wow Field. All vehicles thatare parked in the field will not be allowed to leave (except for emergencies) until after the SundayClosing Ceremony. We will have Parking Advisors to assist you in finding a place to park yourvehicle for those needing to use their vehicles during Pow Wow. Trailers may be left in theoutpost campsite.!NO motor vehicles (cars, trucks, etc.) will be operated in camp other than loading andunloading.!No motor vehicles or trailers will be used to transport boys to places like swimming pools,restrooms, etc.!No ATV’s or Quads are allowed per the Heartland Conference Retreat Center (HCRC)regulations. The only exceptions will be those who obtain specific permission directly from theHCRC prior to the camp. If permission is granted - provide a copy of the permission atregistration for a special tag.!At the close of Pow Wow on Sunday, your campsite is to be cleaned and the campsite checklistturned into the Sectional Commander or his designee in order to receive your patches & pins.The checklist is to be signed by the Senior and Sectional Commander or their designates. It isvery important that we leave our sites like its original condition. POOL RULES AND REGULATIONSHeartland Conference Retreat CenterThank you for keeping Heartland Conference Retreat Center a smokeand alcohol free environment across the entire grounds of 356 acres.acres.1. Modest swimwear is required by anyone using the pool and surrounding area. Ladies and girlsmust wear modest one-piece bathing suits. Men and boys must wear modest swimming trunks.At each swimming session at least one person from each group renting the pool needs to‘monitor’ the bathing suits upon entrance to the pool area. Lifeguards should not be distractedby having to monitor the bathing suits.2. A cover-up (not a beach towel) is to be worn to and from the pool area. The cover-up needs tobe worn over bathing suits and swimming trunks anywhere on Heartland property when not at thepool area.3. Swimming is allowed only when there are lifeguards on duty at the pool.4. Each hour the lifeguards are required by law to take a 15 minute break. All swimmers must exitthe pool during the required breaks.5. Shoes or sandals must be worn at all times on Heartland property.6. No food or drinks are allowed inside the fenced area. Food and drinks are permitted outside thepool area.7. Diving Area: Only those who pass the swimming test and have a valid wristband are permitted inthe diving area. Anyone in violation of this rule will lose all pool privileges, possibly for theremainder of the scheduled event. No backward dives or flips. No swimming in the diving area.Swim to the ladder, not under the ropes. Wait for the person in front of you to get to the ladderbefore diving. Jump off the diving board forward, not to the side.8. Swim Test Rules: You are required to swim the width of the pool on one side without stoppingand swim the front crawl.9. General Rules: No Running, horseplay, pushing, shoving or pulling people into the pool. Nojumping or diving off the sides of the pool at any time. No food or drink inside the pool area.Stay in area of pool where you can touch bottom.
