Personal Bible :Reading Plan

**:Personal BibleReading PlanIntroductionWe usually think of the Bible as one book. That’s logical because it looks likeone book, right? We also speak of the Bible as God’s Word. That’s becauseGod wrote the Bible! (For more on that, go to the Frequently Asked Questions section on page 1273.)When we read and study the Bible, we discover that it’s actually an entire librarybetween two covers. Not one book, but 66! Each book has its own style and qualities—but each book contributes to the message God wants to get across. You know what else? Even though we use the word book, some parts of the Bibleare actually letters (like Paul’s letter to the Romans) or collections (like Psalms).Still, the Bible is one big message from God because it has one real Author—God!So you know it’s worth reading. Here’s a way to do it!How This Plan Is DifferentThere are lots of plans to help you read through the Bible. You can start at pageone and read straight through. Or you can get a flavor of the whole Bible byreading parts from it during a whole year. That’s what this reading plan is all about.Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to read the best-known storiesand important lessons. Some parts of the Bible offer so much help that you canread them every day. (Those are the Gospels, Psalms, and Proverbs.) One way oranother, you need to read God’s Word! Before You BeginYou’ll see that each day’s reading has a title and a question. (Those questionswill help you as you read—you can count on it.) And always pray before youread and ask God to help you understand, apply, and obey his Word. And remember, this is only the start of the great adventure of reading God’s Word and getting toknow him!
